I have a dynex lcd tv, the screen fades to black after 10 minutes, changed the t con, worked fine for a week, now fades again
Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Code universal Remote control
What brand of universal remote do you have?
Each brand of universal remote can have different codes for the same tv.
It's easiest to go to the UNIVERSAL REMOTE's manufacturer website and download the user manual for that model. It will have all the codes listed in there.

Try using a small miniphone plug such as headphone
and plug it into the remote sensor jack on the back, do that a couple
of times to clean the contact switch inside, see if that will work
first, if not, then you may have IR receiver board problem.

Sounds like the main system control memory IC to your TV is faulty. Check and replace it. Try a hard reset to this set and check before replacing this IC. I don't think it will help you; yet try once. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.
