The screen unit is called a display panel and if available will cost more as a part (not counting labor and a core value) than a new set.Sorry, but cost wise this is fatal.

Most sets use two boards (each drives the image on half the screen) some combine both into a single larger board but if a even half of the screen is doing something the other half is not that is where the problem likely is.Different makers use different names for this like T-Con or Y out etc.You if interested might Google the model number with "parts" which may provide you a list of the boards in this set along with prices in some cases.
