Hi fordtech05,

Here are some basic steps that will help you fixing the problem.

I'm assuming that your unit is dead set without an standby LED light and your outlet is live.1.Power cord - check the cord it might be opened (no continuity). This is due to frequent bending, pulling. 2. Power switch - check for dry joints, open contact. 3.Check the internal fuse- sometimes the fuse fail because of the power surge, replacing with new one will cure the problem, If this is the case I would advice you to use surge protector/AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator). However if the fuse blew again this is an indication that you have a shorted parts in the power supply, you may visit the link http://www.fixya.com/support/r8053361-fuse_keeps_blowing for more info. If no reaction and still the unit didn't power up then you have an open parts on the power supply.

4.If you see that the fuse is intact , don't attempt to touch anything because there some fatal components stored electricity enough to hurt you with a simple mistake only. I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the power supply. If you want to repair it yourself make sure that you have necessary tools and test instrument. First check bad solder joints(re-solder all cold solder), leaky electrolytic capacitor(sometimes it has bulged at the top but not all, you better have a capacitor checker), open/shorted regulator transistor/IC(mounted in heat sink), open fusible resistor (caused by shorted regulator Transistor/IC), shorted zener diode.

Also check if your unit is under warranty before opening the back panel, it will void the warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!
Thanks for using fixya

If you heard a "pop" usually thats a good indication that one of the capacitors blew. Make sure that all of the capacitors are smooth on top and not bulky and check around to see if any leakage happened. This happened to my kdl-46z4100 and saw that it was a capacitor that i recently changed that had popped, reason for mine popping was because I had shorted it by using too much solder on the joints which created a bridge and it recieved more voltage than it would handle. That being said, just make sure everything is in order and hopefully its just a capacitor that went bad. Good Luck!

If it occurs on all inputs, it is usually caused by the T-CON or the LCD Panel. They are usually sold as a set together. So if it is the T-CON , you would still need to replace the LCD Panel. Due to the cost of repairing averaging around 900.00 to 1200.00, I would check prices to replace the unit.
I hope this helps,

This seems like a T-con board problem as its responsible for several picture functions including color convergence. Or it could be a bad LVDS cable (inside the TV) I can ship you a new T-caon board for $150.00 or take it too your local shop repair shouldn't cost more than $250.00....

Possible failure of the driver, open and check for visibile failures of a fusible link to the main voltage for the driver.
Check if there is any connecctors that are not contacting and cutting off the screen,
finally it is possible that the screen was damaged by any reason, was the set moved?
