hi all .ive had the same problem,a thick black line down screen.sometimes it flickers from top to bottom and other permantly in view.but i have solved it.forget your ic boards and taking apart tv.have you got either a ps3 or wii connected to tv.if so unplug power lead from socket and relocate in seperate socket.make sure the lead is completely free of any other leads and you might just find this works.i think the power lead creates some sort of frequency that the tv picks up .good luck hope it works

The tv board call the T-CON decoders board have problems,that why colors vertical lines are showing up in the tv LCD screen panel.The T-CON decoders board,this board sit wright at middle bottom of the tv LCD screen panel.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish T-CON decoders board for the replacement.

Try website like Remotes.com to buy an exact remote to the original remote.Tries tv unplug,replug tv an hour later,the tv will reset itself back to the factory setting,could solved ur problems.

You have a leaky capacitor in the high voltage section of your tv and it will eventually fail completely if not replaced. This is not an expensive fix $50. ballpark

Yikes, thats no good at all. First off, before we do anything big in the menu and setup of the TV have you tried a simple reset where you unplug the TV for at least 3 minutes, let it sit unplugged, and then plug it back in.

Let me know if you have done that, and if the problem persists, there is more we can do.

Press TV on the FIOS remote, then find the INPUT button near the bottom of the Fios remote and press it...press it again and again until it finally cycles to the Connection his Fios box is connected to.



Then press the STB button. That should get your TV back to the proper input.



But that will not fix his TV set if the TV is dead or does not display volume bars or the TV menu or any other on-screen display. That indicates the display is dead and either the power supply or the video board has failed.



So if the TV is black and displays nothing, then he needs a Sony repairman.

EITHER THE MAIN SCREEN VIDEO RIBBONS HAVE GONE FAULTY IN THE SCREEN OR THE VIDEO DRIVER BOARD IS FAULTY LOCATED CENTER TOP BACK OF SCREEN

Remove back and look for Bad Capacitors they will be swollen ,vented or puffed up on Top which means they are bad look for 1000uf 16v 220uf10v 330uf 10v ect...

same issue here. started with one line about 4" down from the top, then another appeared 4" from the bottom a month later, now another month and another line near the center.

It should be fine to mount your t.v. above your mantel. As flat screen t.v.s become more popular more and more people have started mounting their t.v.s over the fireplace.

I had same problem 7/20/10 on a new sony. TV did not recognize HDMI input from Comcast box. It did recognize coax input. Mine was a software issue (my version 1.506) needed an update. Check sony site, it is posted. They are mailing me the software to update.

SONY HDTV's ARE DEFINITELY NOT RELIABLE. TOO MANY PROBLEMS. Manufacturer DEFECTS.
