This problem appears to be an issue with numerous Sony Bravia owners of the same model. Although still seeking a soulution, it would appear that our cable provider (Verizon) has replaced all of their components and the Geek Squad from Best Buy where we purchased the unit, points the finger at Verizon. None of our other Fios-equipped TV's exhibit this problem so I am glad we bought the service plan with the TV and will continue to seek a remedy.

Adjust ur t.v sound cable

You may only need to change the format for the picture. Check your owners manual for how to change the picture format, or aspect ratio. The tv may be in the zoom mode the way you describe it. There is likely an option in the menu to allow the unit to automatically set the format based opon the signal being received. Only some of the programming you see is actually HD. The Super Bowl was broadcast in HD and has a 16:9 aspect ratio (width to height). When this set is adjusted for a correct HD display I'm confident you will be impressed. So I believe this is a matter of a customer setup with the remote. If I had the unit in front of me I could offer more detail. I hope my general opinion helps.

you need an optical cable which it's sort of mentioned in the manual, but because of the multitude of possible ways to connect the TV to the sound surround, I did not figure out either.
I got my optical cable at BestBuy for about $45.00

I would definetly call Sony and if it is something you can't live with return it, but remember impact damage voids the warranty, in other words if you were to drop the tv trying to return it the warranty is void. As much as you paid for that tv it should be cosmeticly a functionaly perfect. Let me know if I can provide further assistance and please rate this solution. Hi sheridamiddl, I will be happy to help. i few things I would like you to try.

1. From the menu set the TV back to default options.
2. Check and see if you have the same problem from different inputs, try watching a dvd or game console.
3. Unplug the TV for a couple of hours and let it reset.

If it is connected to a cable box with an HDMI cable, try connecting up component instead

that could be a faulty hdmi cable,,ive had that happen

Unplug the TV for a while and hopefully, that should reset the circuity. If you're using the original remote control, check for the display button and press it. I would also suggest doing a factory reset if your TV has that feature and if the TV allows you to do it after unplugging it.

The front and back pieces are like a clam shell and are compression fit with tabs into one another. You need to use something like a guitar pick or spudger to separate the pieces. Dont use metal objects due to damage that will happen to the plastic .

You can try but I don't think that will help, sounds like power supply issues, open the back and look for bulged caps

Sounds like a bad main board, or more specific the EEPROM is bad on the main

Do you get voltage with the main board unhooked?
