Original document fed into top feed tray of MFC 74...
You need to clean the narrow glass strip on the left side of the machine when you open the cover. There is likely lint or something on this glass. This is where the auto document feeder pages are "imaged".

Printer is back and white, print is faded, toner is fine. What could the problem be?
Most likely it is an issue with the Drum Unit.
Start by cleaning the Corona Wire. There will be a slider on the top of the Drum Unit. Slide it all the way to the other side and back to where the arrows meet and try your print again.
If this does not fix the problem replace the drum unit as the drum itself may be worn. The drums are rated to do 12,000 pages and it has probably done this. 12,000 pages equates to about 5-6 cartridges.

Brother printer MFC 7440 N says to replace toner and I already did
Did you insert a brand new toner cartridge or refill only, if you insert a brand new they read your toner cartridge, if you insert a refill toner cartridge, first you need to reset the toner cartridge, i think in the right side, or left please switch and back to normal position.

What can cause a bad burning smell coming from the printer whenever I use it
It might be the heater not getting enough power. Check and see if the Printer is directly plugged to the wall outlet or to a power regulator. If it is powered through a power regulator then try plugging it directly to the wall and see if the problem is solved. You might wanna check the voltage power of both the printer and the outlet before you go on with this.

Drum and Power On
Have the printer "Fuser" tested. It might be the reason behind that.
