When the paper does not feed straight, dirty or stickyrollers can cause it to jamb or crinkle, also failure to remove all traces ofpaper from a previous paper jamb will cause further paper jambs.
Check for tiny pieces of at the edges of the rollers, and remove these piecesof paper. The rollers may be dirty or sticky and causes the paper tonot feed straight.
Try cleaning the rollers with methylated spirits.

Error Code 5100

It can have a lot to do with some obstruction in the print path, the gears, or ink on the clear plastic encoder strip. The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) was not lubricated well enough from factory. If you lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps) the mechanism can now slide more freely, and the unit can park the head properly without giving you the dreaded head homing error 5100 (or E-2-2 on the LCD display) Keep in mind that this repair will probably require you to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. There are two screws behind the printer, and two in front for each corresponding side panel (the front screws are behind the grey front panel of the printer - open the top cover to see the clips which hold the front cover on) Hope this helps some of you out.

Also try:

Opening up the case so you can get to the side where the power pack is located and then disconnecting the small plug connecting it to the printer circuit boards, wait 10 seconds, reconnect the plugs again the printer and then re-connect the external power lead.

Also try :

Solution 1:

  • Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:

  • The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough . Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

For an inkjet, make sure that the printer is on (plug in and turn on for a new printer). Then open the top cover and wait for the cartridge carrier to come to a stop at the left side of the printer. Then remove the old cartridge (if needed) by pushing the cartridge down to a slight angle then pull it out of the carrier. Open the new ink packaging (one cartridge at a time) and remove the tape (do not touch the electrical contacts or the nozzles). Insert the cartridge into the carrier (black on the left) at a slight angle (towards you). Then push the cartridge up into the printer cartridge carrier. Repeat this for the other cartridge then close the top cover. (The light will blink orange if the cartridges are not correctly seated or both cartridges are not installed.) Wait for the green light to stop blinking before sending a print job to the printer. (The printer needs time to charge the system with the new ink.)

For pictures, see the set up guide: http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/6/0300000636/01/iP2600_ESI_EN-US_V1.pdf or the Canon support site: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_ip_series/pixma_ip2600#ServiceAndSupport . Search for "replace ink cartridge".

If the ink cartridge carrier does not move to the left, check for any foreign objects blocking the path of the carrier. Some inkjets have a plastic guide (usually clear or translucent) that needs to be connected to the cartridge carrier. Shift it down and into position. Other inkjets can have smudges on the guide that can block motion of the carrier. (Clean with a soft lint-free cloth without removing grease from other components.)

I hope this helps.

try to reset the unit by pressing the Resume button and switch on the printer, release the Power button while still holding the resume button, then press the resume button twice and then release ... then press the Resume button four times... then press once the Power button... then switch off and on...

Hello Jra,

By resetting the printer's power, the print buffer is cleared and certain sensors are reset. If there is invalid data in the buffer, or sensors are stuck in a particular mode; errors may occur. Follow these steps to reset the printer:
  1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).

  2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .

  3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

  4. Turn the printer back on.
