Hello there this may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you.
Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.
And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

What does the error code 5100 for my Ip2600 canon
Try
Solution 1:
Clean the timing strip.
Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .
Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

Printer won't read my refilled cartridge for my
many moidern printers are fitted with programs that are abkle to identify and refuse refillwd cartridges.
The sloutioni snot to allow it to go emty, before refilling.
Tro go to the web page of te manufacturer of the refiller, or probably thechain store that refilled the cartridge,.
They usually hav ethe speps to take to reset the cartridge error.
for the time being Try unplugging the printer, then power it on while it isunplugged.
then let it sit overnight. plug it in and see if it will reset.

I have a canon IP2600 printer only 4 months old
In many cases, forcing (pulling out) the jammed paper in the printer might caused severe damages on the gears or some parts on the mechanical stability.
Noise problem might occurred if some of the joints (parts) were dis-aligned. Dis-assemble carefully the printer, and look for that damage. Put some grease and assemble.

How do I reset the inkjet monitor after I install
You mean reset the printer itself, You have to use your "OPTIONS MENU BUTTONS"!!!! ("select" and "arrow", etc buttons to navigate on your options screen), it will want to print a test page once you put new ink cartrages in and close the door.....

Ink cartridge refill
You can't refill these cartridges yourself. Sure you can get ink and inject it in, but your printer remembers the serial number of each cartridge and how many pages you've printed with it. Because it remembers this information it turns off the cartridge electronics to prevent the use of refills. I would try to get refills for the black but not the color cartridge. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and we have a high return rate on the color cartridges. It seems the printers are extremely finicky about color refills. If you get a black refill and your printer won't print with it, exchange it for another one because you happened to get a cartridge with the same serial number as the last one you had. I recommend Cartridge World refills, then Office Depot brand refills.

Changing cartridges
1) With the power on, open the front cover. The print head should move to the center.
2) Prepare the new cartridge for installation by removing the tape(s). Do not touch the area of the ink cartridge that was protected by the tapes.
3) Insert color cartridge into the right slot, then the black into the left slot. Push up and in until the cartridge clicks into place.
4) Close the front cover. Wait until the printer finishes preparing the new cartridge(s).
