What I could recon from your question is that your webcam driver is not installed in your PC .

Please be informed that any Driver software depends upon the hardware make and Operating System. So, you need to know all these information's to do get going.

Please find the Driver software's of your webcam inside the installation disk provided with the System at the time of purchase. In case if you do not posses the same then you need to download the driver software from the web. As you have not mentioned your Webcam make and Operating System you are using, I am unable to give you the direct download link. However you can download the same by visiting the website of the company that manufactured the Webcam.

Even here you need to be careful to download the correct software for your PC. You need to be exact with the Webcam Model number and the OS that you are using.

After you have downloaded the driver, to install just plug in the webcam on to your PC and then Double click on the driver setup.exe file and go on clicking 'Next' until you get the 'Finish' option and restart the PC.

you want to completely erase the hd and reformat it to its original settings like it was when it was new? tap F11 on startup and I believe it will give you the option to restore your computer back to factory default

Monitor wiping cloths. You can get then at any Wal-Mart, Staples, Frye's, etc.

You can sometimes check in the multimedia section on your computer to verify that the cam is turned on.

Hi Madre - Looking at the manual I can understand your frustration.

To turn the touchpad on and off you have to use button #6 (see below). Most certainly not intuitive!

Click "Windows" and in the search type "web cam". It should pop up at the top of the list.

if u have installed VISTA then u can use these drivers here for motherboard and sound vga and whatever u want

but if u have WinXP installed then HP doesnt support drivers for XP as this machine came for VISTA so tell me further i need to give u a workaround links for those drivers separately

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you may have a program named YouCam.
Open that program and you should be able to turn on the camera.
IF not, download the Youcam from the hp website and install it.
Or you can just go to start >> computer
Inside the Computer Window, you will get a list of device, you should see your webcam there. Just double click on it to open.

Yes it comes with a webcam.

If your computer is still within Warranty then contact the manufacture, if not then bring it to a local computer shop to get it looked into.

According to the HP website, the unit shows as having an HP Pavillion Webcam. I found XP drivers for the HP Pavillion Webcam, but I'm not sure if it works with the Compaq. Try it and see.

it sounds like you've damaged the cable that goes from your graphincs card to your screen or when you move it to 90degrees it's disconnecting. it's usually caused by someone opening the laptop and not putting the cable back in the right place, or loose screws in your hinges or a broke hinge. there are plently of videos showing how to open it up. follow one of them and make sure your wires are sitting in the right place, you don't have loose screws and the hinges aren't broken.

when you say you have power, do you mean the screen light up and you get through bios and it tries to start windows or do you mean the lights come on and the screen stays black. if the screen lights up either windows is corrupt or your hard drive is broken. if the screen stays black then your motherboard is faulty. it's usually the connections between the graphics card and the motherboard that's the problem which is caused by your cooling fan getting full of dust and your laptop overheating. that might all sound really technical but basically if your screen lights up it's not too big a problem, if it doesn't then you're best selling the laptop for spares and buying another one
