Boss Micro BR Digital Recorder - Page 3 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Hey i just got a
Troubleshoot. Try different cables, mics, instruments, etc to make sure that its the device and not something else.
Make sure you don't have any digital effects (compressors, guitar effect simulators, etc) activited.
See if there's a way to restore the device back to factory settings. Make sure you backup your recordings first.
I have recorded 4 tracks and a rytham arrangement
For the drums to take effect you have to master the track before converting. The manual explains how to do this. Push "exit" and "utility" at the same time twice, then "play" and "record" (to start the recording of course).
My Micro BR was in
You may find corrosion has eaten through a circuit trace on the circuit board OR has spoiled the power switch.
Is the Boss Dr-5 compatable with the Boss BR-1180 mini studio?
Midi doesn't actually "make sound". If your trying to record the patterns you made on the DR-5 to the recorder you need to use an audio output(I don't remember if they are RCA or 1/4" on the DR-5.) The midi output would be used to"trigger sounds" in another device that has sounds built in, or you could also trigger sounds in a program that supports midi input.
I have a Fender G-DEC Guitar amp and it has an
you can use the line in/mic stereo input, but you will have to turn the input level way down to around 1 or 2.
i assume that the record outputd a re rca outs. you can get a rca stereo to 1/8 inch stereo adapter, like the ones they use to connect protable cd palyers to recievers, and then get a 1/8 inch stereo to 1/4 inch stereo adapter form radio shack to complete the connection.
The output jack is becoming loose and is breaking
The jack is LIKELY surface mounted on the circuit board and broken loose. Only thing is to take in for repair. Surface mount repairs are not for the unskilled DIY. It usually takes special tools to safely replace or re-attach the components.
Need Help on a Boss B R 8
I think I solved this problem.
I used a different power adapter and it works now. Try different adapters, I used an old Nintendo one. It is 9V 1.3A, even though the back of the BR-8 says 9V 2A
Message says "Card Full"
The sound file has used all available space on the memory card. Either put in a different card or purge the sound file(s) on the card so you can record new files.
I need replacement part
Most of the LCD's in these are specially made for the manufacturer of the units... It is UNLIKELY you can find a source for just the LCD... They seem to have specific patterns for the use they were made...
Suggest you try to find a busted unit that the LCD is OK on... maybe Ebay... to rob one off...
My Boss 1180cd is turning
This is a sign of a failing hard disk. I don't know for how long you have used your Boss 1180, but when "now checking" appears, and takes long to go off, the next thing you would expect is "HDD Read Error". and its time to replace the Hard disk. There is a clearly illustrated guide ( with pictures) on how to replace a hard disk. please follow
this link for Instructions & hope this solves your problem.

When I turn on my
It sounds like the machine has hardware problems for sure, but hopefully it is not the actual hard drive that has the problems. If so then sadly you may have lost some recordings. Honestly your best bet is to talk with a Boss dealer in your area to get the low-down on what is going on. I would not trust something so delicate to anyone that is not an official Boss person, especially since you have years worth of recordings on there.
They should be able to pull the data off the hard drive though and back it up for you, which is something I would have recommended you do for sure since it is possible that it could go out at any time and keeping all of your recordings in one place on one device is very risky.

How to launch a sound file from micro br on a mac
In this device the music files are stored in the SD memory card that is plugged in it - they are in the MP3 folder.
To listen to them you must manually access and launch yourself. To access them you have 2 options:
1 - connect the device to the Mac directly by using an USB cable - the device will be recognized as a standard USB memory key that will be treated as usual.
2 - take out he SD card, put it in a card reader and treat it as usual.
I have connected my Boss
Chances are you need a driver in your PC compatible with Vista. There are MANY compatibility problems with Vista and special devices such as the Micro Br.
I cannot turn on my
The devices that have battery AND adapter capability OFTEN have a switch that the adapter opens when powered by the adapter. Often this switch contact gets bent and units won
t run on battery, so try it on an adapter... if the adapter works and battery doesn't, this contact whcih is a part of the input power connector has failed.
