This is a known problem with the MX850 - Canon thinks it works, but it needs to be FAX Only when you're out of the office and TEL PRIORITY when you're in the office - then you hit "Hook" when you hear an incoming call as a fax tone. It's a manual answer machine when in TELEPHONE Priority

Have you tried telling the printer that it is to be used as "telephone priority"
Press the "fax" button on printer, then "menu" button
Use the left or right arrow keys to key across to "Receive mode settings" then press OK
Use the up or down keys to select receive mode. You should make sure it is in "telephone priority" then press OK

Remove all the ink cartridges from the machine
Then clean the contacts on the cartridges as well as inside the machine itself
Do this with a small amount of warm water on a cotton swab until no ink comes off on the swab
If any of the other cartridges are low, empty, leaking or bulging replace them
Then turn off the machine and unplug it for 70 seconds
Plug it back it and wait for the insert cartridges message
Insert the cartridges and check to see if the problem is still there
If it is it means the print head has failed
In order to fix this the print head inside the printer needs to be replaced
The print head is the part of the printer that puts ink from the cartridges onto the page
Unfortunately this can sometimes cost more to replace then the machine itself

Well every advice is the same except a little altered (use a warm cotton swab to clean inside machine and on print head channels) but then it says if possible replace print head but honestly this has become a primitive Machine for turning humans into corpses - buy a new one.

error 5100 is a carriage error, meaning the printer cannot find the position of the carrier. You have likely gotten some grease or ink on the 10mm wide plastic strip that goes through the carrier, just to the rear of the ink tanks. Unplug the printer with the cover open, then you can manually move the carrier from side to side and use a tissue to wipe any material from the encoder strip.

Be sure to turn off the power and disconnect the power cord before cleaning the machine.

Important

The inner side of the Document Cover (white sheet) (C) is easily damaged, so wipe it gently.

If the glass of the ADF (A) is stained with ink, correction fluid, or the like, black streaks may appear on the printed paper when the document is loaded in the ADF. With a clean, soft, lint-free cloth, wipe the glass of the ADF.

With a clean, soft, lint-free cloth, wipe the Platen Glass (D), the inner side of the Document Cover (white sheet) (C), the glass of the ADF (A), and the inner side of the ADF (white area) (B) gently. Make sure not to leave any residue, especially on the Platen Glass.


Cleaning the ADF Caution
Be sure to turn off the power and disconnect the power cord before cleaning the machine.

1. Open the Document Tray.


2. Open the Feeder Cover.


3. With a soft, clean, lint-free and dry cloth, wipe off any paper dust from the inside of the Feeder Cover (A).


4. After wiping, close the Feeder Cover by pushing it until it clicks into place.

5. Close the Document Tray.

6. Reconnect the power cord then turn on the machine.

I have the same problem - after installing the firmware update fumx850win1030en

If there is a poor line or connection, reducing the transmission start speed may correct the error.
Reduce the transmission start speed. Refer to "TX start speed" in "Device Settings" of the User's Guide on-screen manual.

grey is often made up of all the colours, so if the greys are purple it would be the Yellow missing or not printing completely. Try a printer head clean.

Hi Daniel, I just had a quick look and other people here have posted problems regarding error code 300 on the MX850. Take a look here when you get a minute to see if any of the solutions posted help you out at all. It's a long shot as this link is for Apple users but it might point you in a direction you hadn't yet tried. All the best.

Error 6000 may be a paper feed error. Perhaps there's a paper jam, but it may be a malfunction (a.k.a the printer is broken).
Is it still under warranty? If so, contact Canon immediately to get it repaired.
Canon's 800 number is 800-828-4040. There hours are 8 A.M. to midnight Eastern Time., last I checked.

If you want to install the printer to the computer just follow this simple rules: first go connect the printer.
2. go to START
3. go to where says "devices and printers"
4. then look for where says "install printer or add printer"

or

1. go to start
2. then panel control
3. the device manager
4. and click on play all computer devices

hi this error code c000 is a possible indication of your ink cartridge/either needs cleaning/or check that they are properly seated/ie take them out and re-seat them back into there holders/the other possibility is you may have some print paper stuck in the roller/this needs to be checked.hope this helps.

Any recent changes like moving cabinets or furniture?It doesn't have to be anything large,a Blue Tooth connection is really short range and it doesn't take much to interrupt the signal.
Take a look around for anything that may be out of place or new.

You will need to reset the your pixma printer, follow this steps to reset the printer,

1. Turn off the Printers .
2. Hold button Resume/Cancel (red triangle in the circle), click on POWER – an indicator light green.
3. Release the button Resume / Cancel keeping POWER.
4. Click Resume/Cancel 2 times, keeping POWER, and then release all the buttons.
5. When the indicator recorded GREEN – click Resume / Cancel 4 times!
6. Turn off the Canon Pixma Printers POWER button. power on back some minutes, this should fix the problem.
