The Stylus 850SWwill not deface your pictures by scrawling numbers across them. However, the data is stored with every picture. Depending on the program and printer, you can print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back. Please refer to the documentation for the program.
If you print directly from the camera, refer to the instructions in the "Printing" section of the camera manual (page 41 in my copy).

You could have a problem with the board of the camera. I hope you did not drop the camera. If what you say is happening try to restart the computer of the camera by removing the main battery. It also has a reserve battery and I suggest you remove that too. In about an hour put the batteries back and see if the camera has reset itself. If it does not work I hope you applied for the extended warranty and just send it back to the camera shop if they handle it or directly to Olympus. Good Luck
Hi,
My Stylus
This is a tough one as if the camera is opened then the seals are to be reset in proper order. But at the same time the bend latch seems to me as from the inside which might require the camera to be opened out. If by any chance the latch can be straightened using a flat metal against the latch , by applying pressure on it so as to bring the latch to alignment with the port hole , then it can be fixed.
The tip is that since this latch seems to be bend on the inside and so has shifted in a diagonal manner, the door latch must be pulled out with the same angle it had been displaced, Now this is quite technical as the part also is fragile and higher pressure might damage the door or latch.
The final option is to somehow plug using a rubber seal.
How do i put pictures
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).
My screen is violet and pixels are disorted.
It sounds like your screen may be broken. If that's the case, then you may have to bring it to the store to have your screen replaced. From what you've stated, it doesn't seem to be any problem of the software.
I have an Olympus 850sw and each time I turn it on
Most of the cameras with a date time clock have a secondary internal power source like a small watch type battery some point and shoot cameras use a storage cell which takes power from the main battery. This means when the main battery looses power the camera clock will hold a setting for about 1 day or 24 hours. To keep the camera clock set you need to keep a charge in the main battery. Here is a screen shot from the manual explaining this function.

1. Try cleaning the lens with a soft dry cloth. Do NOT blow on the lens first.
2. You could be experiencing camera shake - if you are in shutter mode and if your shutter speed is too slow for the light available you get a blurred image.

Hello
The problem you are experiencing, is most probably a lens error. Here is some steps you can try to resolve the problem.
Hello
The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel after dropping it. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.
Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.
If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.
Hope the advise is useful.
Regards
Andrea
The camera had gotten wet
If any water got into the lens and dried leaving a spot, it may show up at various zoom levels and not at others. This is probably your problem. This is not a job you can do and you need to decide if the cost of disassembling and cleaning your camera is worth it.
I have the olympus 850
make sure you have all the pictures removed then format the card using the camera. it should be in options.

Fiji's great isn't it?! Friendliest people and GREAT diving and marine life. A photographers dream, as long as the camera works.
Anyhow, to answer your question, YES, your camera is dead.
May it rest in peace at the nearest electronics recycling station.
If you even get a few drops of salt water in an electronic camera it's either going to be toast immediately, or it won't take long for the inevitable corrosion to do it's magic and kill it. You could send it in for repair, but that would likely cost more than a new(er) camera.

Sounds like a internal microphone issue in this case you will need a camera shop to have a look locally, But if your sure all the settings are correct nothing is muted then the problem is the internal microphone assembly inside. Let me know ether way.

Are you taking it more than 10 feet underwater? It is only waterproof up to 10 feet underwater. It is also possible that there is a crack or hole somewhere in the case; a hairline crack could leak water in there. Let it sit a day without the battery and try again. If it still won't turn on, then it's probably shot. If it is still under warranty, Olympus will probably repair or replace it for you. If not, considering that it is probably beyond repair, I would seek out a replacement unit.
The lens refuse to close on my Olympus stylus 850
same thing happens to mine. olympus wants to charge me more than the camera cost to fix it. It started doing it one month after the warranty expired. The problem does go away for weeks at a time sometimes but always comes back so camera is not dependable. If you shake/hit the camera repeatedly it sometimes fixes itself. Olympus sucks.
