Canon Rebel XT Digital Camera Questions & Answers
My camera has the err 99 on the screen and won't
The Canon Error 99 occurs when there is a contact
issue between a lens and the body of the camera. it can also be caused by a defective battery, defective storage card you can try to take the battery out and put it back in.if the problem still persists you can run a firmware update.
Canon have now created
firmware numbered 1.0.3 that aims to tackle the Err99 message.
Firmware 1.0.3
1. Corrects a phenomenon in which an image becomes
overexposed when C.Fn.II-3 Highlight tone priority is set to “1′
together with other camera settings. (This correction has already been
incorporated in the Version 1.0.2 and later firmware.
2. Corrects a
rare phenomenon in which “busy” blinks on the camera’s display panel
and the shutter cannot be released due to the timing of battery
installation.
3. Corrects a rare phenomenon in which “Err 99′ appears on the camera’s
display panel and LCD monitor and the shutter cannot be released due to
the timing of pressing the shutter button.

If you're using a dslr type camera....with removable lenses.....try cleaning the electrical contacts, between the lens and the camera. remove the lens and use a pencil eraser...being careful not to get any debris in the camera or lens. dirty contacts cause a lot of problems. hope this helps.
My PC will recognize my Canon Rebel XT, but it
First of all....use a usb card reader...rather than downloading directly from the camera. I believe you use a cf card in your canon. Using the reader simply insert the card into the reader.....and download it to whatever file (and location on your pc) name you want. then bring up the image in whatever photo editing software you use. I use photoshop....but you necessarily need that program. many people use photoshop le, etc. hope that helps.
I am taking pictures of a football game at night
Are you sure you have the shutter speed at 1600 or do you have the ISO at 1600? If it's the ISO as I suspect, the photos will probably be grainy with digital noise. I would take a few just to check and maybe back it down to 800 ISO. Don't use your flash. Set both your focus and exposure meter to spot. If you have a monopod or, at the very least, anti-shake control on your camera, you should get some great shots. If you have an external flash and you're on the sidelines close to the action, then you can use flash.
Digital rebel xt acts as though the timer is on
Your description is not exactly as clear as it should be.
If you would please be more clear using English clearly.
I will try.
First, I would go to the menus and set all to factory default. Later, you can set what you want.
Test the camera again.
Make sure in the menu that all settings are what the manual states as common or factory.
This may make a difference when it acts like this.

It can happen if you are in the Auto-No Flash mode. Or if the flash release button is stuck.
Contact customer service, and have a pro take a look at your camera.
Trying to download pics from computer and get error 31, but then camera automatically disconnects itself
Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

Liquid soap inside the screen
The soap is probably between the back light and the LCD itself, on one of the plastic Fresnel screens. You may be able to clean it off with Windex on a Q-tip. Remove back cover (can't give directions without knowing which model)
Focus lights are Dim on My 1100d
Remove black side cover (two screws) and rear cover and check the rear circuit board for a missing screw in the lower right corner. Find screw and replace. If it did not short out the circuit you should see the function return. Other, send to Canon for circuit replacement
