No cd rom recognising in hp dv9700

In device manager, delete something like a USB device and perform a hardware scan with the menu item and it will detect the optical drive if its running ok. Then you can upgrade the driver for motherboard or the cdrom if exists on their web site. If the issue persists, check BIOS and see whether it is disabled in any way before you try to disassemble it and tighten the cable connections or try that cdrom on other machines.

No cd rom no sound

Do you get sound from audio files located on your computer's hard drive? If so then the fault lies with either the CD or the actual CD drive itself.Clean the CD using a cotton cloth and also try a few disks to be sure. You may need to update your media player to a newer version.Claim warranty support if possible.Take care!damnor01

Push the on button power lights come on for 1

Try removing the battery and using the power adapter only. If this fails to work check your power adapter with a multi-meter (or volt meter). The reading on the meter should equal the output printed on the adapters label which should equal the input required by the laptops printed label. If there is a difference replace the power adapter

How to replace battery

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=Pavilion+dv9700t#q=Pavilion+dv9700t+battery&hl=en&safe=off&tbs=shop:1,p_ord:p,cat:1564&source=lnt&sa=X&ei=zrBvTZXKCsP7lwfBpdlX&ved=0CCcQpwU&biw=1639&bih=771&bav=on.2,or.&fp=563c33928d93abad
First choose and buy a battery. Then remove the one in your computer (there should be a switch on the bottom of the computer that makes it pop out, careful though sometimes there is also a lock switch that doesn't let the other switch work until its unlocked) Then you replace, Perform a full charge before turning it on your first time, And your done!
Thumbs up me if this helped please! Comment with more questions.

I have a DV9700 with the very dim image display

Hi,

You could be right about the problem being the inverter or the CCLF lamp, it could also be as simple as a loose cable by what you are describing in your post. If it is the CCLF lamp then you would be better off purchasing a new screen as the labour cost can amount to more than a new screen itself. If its the inverter then it could just need soldering to re-float the solder around the coil.

Seeing as you don't feel comfortable making/troubleshooting the problem yourself then I recommend that you click on the link below and give BnyTech Inc a call and see what they can do for you and at what cost. Link below >>>>

They are based in the "New Yorker" building NY

Good luck.

We have a hp pavillion 9700 that we cannot open

This indicates that the wire bundle running through the hinge has been compromised. Some wire has frayed apart and is making intermittent contact with itself or the lid movement is causing the wire bundle to pull on one of the video connectors.

In order to fix this problem, you will need to remove the laptop's front hinge cover & check the bundle of wires connecting the motherboard to the LCD screen. If this bundle of wires is damaged, then you will have to get it replaced.

Pavilion dv9700, screen goes black

Sounds like a loose lcd cable, I'd check to make sure it is secure (back of lcd) and where it connects to the motherboard. Usually a piece of tape right where it connects solves the problem ;)

Hi when i hit the power button on my hp laptop the

This usually happens if the battery is completely dead and needs recharging for awhile. Unplug the battery and try to turn it on if you want to test this immediately.

Otherwise the power adapter might be malfunctioning. These are fairly cheap on Ebay (10-20$) I have bought one of these and it works just fine. But you can also buy brand name ones at computer retail stores for exorbitant prices of 80-100$.

My hp dv9700 was on one night well it was on for a

Start taking your laptop apart piece by piece and test it after each removed component:
1. Remove the hard drive and test the laptop.
2. Remove the DVD drive and test the laptop.
3. Remove the wireless card and test the laptop.
4. Unplug the display panel from the motherboard/video card and test the laptop.
etc....
Continue taking it apart until you have only three major components connected: motherboard (with video card), processor, and memory. If you still experience the same problem, most likely it's bad motherboard.
By the way, before you start, try reconnecting the memory module. If you have two modules installed, try removing them one by one and test the laptop with each one separately

My laptop wont turn on.

Does the blue light come on at the side where you plug your ac adaptor in? If it does, and your laptop still wont turn on, its likely you have a motherboard failure. Also try this without the battery inside. If the light is not coming on the charger port at the side, then its most definitely your ac adaptor at fault.

Blank screen

Sometimes there is a function button that switches from the external monitor to the laptop screen. I think your computer is Fn + F4. Try pressing that a few times and see if your screen comes back.
Also if you can see any thing on the laptops screen even a very faint image then you may have a problem with the screens inverter. The inverter is a very inexpensive part, usually less then $20. You will need a good set of small screw drivers do do this repair.

I plugged in a laptop using a universal laptop and it fried it

Connecting a power adapter with the wrong voltage or current can be deadly for most electronics, and especially "sensitive" ones, such as laptops... If I were you, I wouldn't take the risk - and change the whole system board!

Good luck,
