When I turn my tv on its ablack screen and clicks in back usually I can get it to turn on with a blowdryer but what spot do I do it at
Hi
There are many causes for a black screen on LCD's.
- Power supply failure
- Main board failure
- Faulty inverter board or CCFL failure
You do not give much detail about everything that can be observed without opening the unit: Does the front LED power on and stays on?
Does it switch to standby instantly?
Is there any sound other than the "clicking" you have mentioned? How about TV programs audio?
If I understand correctly, you can get the unit to power up by using a hairdryer??
If that is the case the fault may very well be a loose connector or a broken track. In some instances the heat expands and flexes the circuit boards, restoring the connection and you get a picture. Why not try instead gently tapping the boards with the handle of a screwdriver to see if you can get a picture that way. If you do there is your answer.
Where did you read about the use of a hair dryer?
It should NOT be used!!! Heat is the enemy of electronic components in particular IC's and capacitors, it shortens the life of IC's, dries capacitors rendering them useless thus making repairs more difficult and costly.
Hope this helps.

Lighting strike 42 inch phillps tv mill not turn on
I would first look at the power supply board. it might be a removable fuse. unplug the TV first, remove the back of TV check the area to where the power cord comes into the TV. it should be real close to the power supply board.I have had a couple of quick fixes by just replacing the fuse. (that means it did it's job) if that doesn't fix it try to get the part # from the power supply board and check with Shop Jimmy.com for replacement board. (easy fix) take pictures of the back of TV with cover off and of the power supply board before u do anything. Leave the old board in place till the new one comes in. that way you won't forget where the cables went etc. Just be careful cause the dead board can still hold a charge so handle with care.

Power to the tv does not stay
from looking at a picture (i found) of the power board there could be a fault with the capacitors the three next to the heat shield. it is on the power out part. this area would be prom to get hot and weaken the capacitors. check them for rounding tops. replace for like to like.

Click here to download the user manual to your Philips TV, and check its

That sounds like your back light has gone out. Either the back light or it's power supply failed. If you turn it on and get close a bit to the side you should see a ghost image. That will confirm it is a back light instead of a video section problem. A lcd type display creates the images on the lcd panel, but it doesn't generate any light. The backlight shines through and illuminates the images. Very much like a slide or move projector. The repair cost really varies from model to model. The actual backlight can be repaired for under $150 in most cases. How ever if the power section is part of the main tv board then the entire main board needs to be replaced. That board on other sim sized tv's can run over $450. This is covered under warranty so the first thing you need to do is check if you have any warranty either extended store or the oem warranty. Then contact the store you purchased or go through the Phillips support to find your local repair depot and get ti sent in. If you do not have warranty then you have to be careful as you are paying for this. You need to get a estimate. A repair depot will have a very good idea of the repair cost. You should also have an idea of what a replacement tv is worth. Once you know how much the repair cost is you can then judge if it is worth fixing or if you should get a new tv. A new tv has a new warranty while your repaired tv will not. So if the repair gets too high you are better off replacing and not having any worries.
