Goldstar DH504EL Dehumidifier - Page 3 Questions & Answers
THE DEHUMIDIFIER TURNS ON & OFF WITHOUT A
Nika,
There are 5 basic, but solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.
1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%. If your unit has a manual
control, rather than an LED Screen. Turn the Manual knob to Maximum.
2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.
3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.
4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.
5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air
temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.
If
none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the
compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are
5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it
can happen.
Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.
How do you set humidity
The percentage arrows are how you set the humidity extraction level. The lower the percentage level, the more humidity/moisture it removes from the air. The higher the level, the less it extracts from the air.
Now to your problem of the % arrows not moving. Turn the Master ON/Off Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 30 minutes. After the elapsed time, plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extracting level at 35% (That's the Down Arrow).. If everything works now, as it should, that 30 minute time out allowed the electronics to reset themselves.
If it didn't reset and the problem continues, you need to contact Gold Star technical Support

Hope this helped you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.
AFTER A YEAR MY DEHUMIDIFIER WONT TURN ON, IS
its the bucket switch on the unit thats bad,it controls the water level overflow so unit shuts off when bucket is full, its at the top rigt side of the bucket mounted to the float in the bucket and there is a replacement available part # AP3136674,on some units depending on the mounting hole size, you may need to use some old switch mounting parts on the new switch so it fits

The PDF file of the owners manual (35 pages, in more than one language) is over 8000 kb. This site seems to limit posts to 150 kb. It does not show an exploded parts diagram either. The manufacturer likes to use djvu files which download faster, but are not supported by "Fixya". I don't know what parts you are calling the interior panel connectors. Although we cannot ask for email addresses, I've seen some people post some.,....

Make sure you unplug the unit first. there should be screws at the base, in the back, or underneath the humidifier. Once you remove all the screws the cover should come off as one big piece. Careful when removing the cover, however, as there may be ground wires attached to it . Usually if you vacuum out the inside godd and around the copils that may help with performance. You can also buy a special acid that you can spray on and rinse off with water that removes alot of residue.

Also, Don't forget to pull the plug, shut the water valve and drain the unit. A unit with a water reservoir should be drained and cleaned with white vinegar, a mix of one part chlorine bleach to eight parts water or muriatic acid. Mist-type humidifiers also require regular cleaning to remove mineral deposits.
Dehumidifier is running but very little moisture
In the is a wall to wall carpet, it's going to take a while. If you have a wet/dry shop vac, you can speed up the process by using the shop vac in wet mode. This will remove a great deal of water and then the dehumidifier will take care of the rest. Remember, it it's wall to wall carpet, the pad underneath is soaked too. So the dehumidifier alone, will really be struggling with it for at least 24 hours.
If it's and area rug, vacuum it to. Then drape it up off the floor over a couple of saw horses or wooden chairs, so the the dehumidifier will fit under one end like a tent. That will dry it out with in 4 or 5 hours.
Last solution, borrow another dehumidifier from a friend and run both at the same time.
Hope this helps you solve your soggy problem.
My dehumidifier is only about a year old and the
It sounds like the switch under the bucket is stuck. Remove the bucket and there should be some kind of switch where the bucket rests against. Make sure the switch works freely if not spray a little contack cleaner on it and work the switch by hand until it frees up.
Fan changing speed and making noise
Did you speed it up or slow it down? Did you change the speed as the builder of the equipment has allowed you to do, or did you do it on your own?
