The resolution of the desktop has been changed. Go to Start , Control Panel, Display, Properties and from there change it to the correct one - it's listed as the default resolution in the user manual of your monitor. If you don't have the manual just try all the resolutions available until you find one that fits and looks well.

My lg lcd 22' flatron

Have you tried taking out the connecting VGA cable and putting it back in? (Sounds silly but sometimes works!) Also, can you try using a different cable to see if it is a cable fault? Try the monitor on a different PC/laptop and then you can tell if it is a fault with the PC or the screen.

Hi, I have an LG

Hello, maybe you've got to switch the output from your laptop screen to the external screen, if so, it will be by pressing and holding down the Function button and at the same time pressing one of the Function keys (at the top of your keyboard). On mine, (an HP) it's F4, but you'll see a symbol on the correct key that looks like a screen. Regards, nicam49

My LG Flatron W2453SQ monitor

HI kissakiwi,

In the control panel's power option , you need to change the SYTEM STANDBY settings to never , and then the problem would be solved.

There are three options , turn of monitor, turn of hard disk and , system standby , if you select all of these three to 'never' then you won't have this problem.

Remember you can also change the settings via the screen saver tab when you right click and select properties on the desktop.

Let me know in case you have any queries. Hope this helps ...:)

Hi, the power button on

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Service manual: www.elektrotanya.com
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed LG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/ Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

If your monitor is new and it has never worked properly, it is probably a power problem. Double check your connections and you might try using a different wall outlet. If your monitor has worked properly in the past, you can right click on your desktop somewhere and go to properties. From there, go into your video card settings and there should be a power saving plan or option. Best of luck to you.

I have a LG flatron

First, make sure that the cable you are using is plugged in tightly on both ends...if some of the pin connections get loose the colors can go a little funky.

If Cable is tight try another cable. This will eliminate the cable as your problem.
If another cable gives you the same result it is then usually either a problem with the video card in your computer or the monitor itself.

Try plugging the monitor into another computer if you can. If the monitor is OK on another computer, the problem is then probably the video card on your computer. If you have a desktop, it can be replaced usually, or another video card can be added and used if your video card is built into the motherboard.

If all of those fails, it is likely the monitor went bad. Check if it is under warranty to see if they will replace or repair. If not under warranty you may want to replace the monitor at that point.

Ik heb een flatron W2234S.

Hello, I have seen this problem before in my workshop, this means that the monitor has developed a fault. This needs to be repaired. It is a fault with the character generator usually. if monitor is new it should be covered by warranty? Most often we repair by replacing the main logic board, this can be expensive, and sometimes un-economic?
But, have you set to OFF the PC's Power Properties Settings. Turn ALL settings OFF especially the turn off/sleep monitor. However IF you have done this and it is NOT the power settings, then it indeed will be what i first stated.
If it is as suspected take to a LG repair center and ask for a "Quote" as to costings and what has to be repaired/replaced? Then you can make an informed decision as to repair or replace?
