Vizio VX20L 20 in. LCD TV Questions & Answers
What should I do in order to get the sound to turn back on my Vizio VX20L TV?
Have you tried the user manual? There may be a setting in the menu indicating whether to use internal speakers or some other device run through say, a cable or HDMI output, or turn off sound for those using a cable input to the TV from say, a cable box, but the sound goes to a separate sound system.
Also check that there is sound coming INTO the unit from your cable box if you have one and use RCA cables. If using HDMI input, there may be a menu item as well, to control whether to use input or not, as some people will have the cable box send the sound to a sound system instead of the TV.
My vizio has input locked
Hello
Reset the device to its factory settings. To reset it to factory settings, enter "Setup", select 'Reset All Settings", press [=>] button to reset the TV to its factory settings. All parameters, except the parential lock will be reset to it original factory settings. If you for got the pass code, just enter its factory reset passcode [0000]; Eventhough the set will report this to be wrong passcode, input [0000] once again. This will unlock the passcode, and you have to set a new passcode. OK.
Please help! My TV
was the sound a poping sound or squealing sound? Sounds like the power supply. if you have experience - pull the rear panel and check the power supply for bulged/leaking or busted caps - if not replace the power supply using the part number from it. be careful though the voltages and amperage can kill you.
thanks,

I have hum bars on my televisions just the vizios
Hum Bars are caused by electrical interference. If you have other equipment hooked to the vizio such as a VCR, try unhooking the VCR and hooking cable directly to the tv bypassing the VCR. If you have a Cable signal amplifier hooked up that also can cause interference if it is going bad. Some tv's can handle the negative interference better than others. You could also try moving another tv into the room where the vizio is and see if that gets hum bars as well. In this situation the process of elimination is the best method. If it goes away using a different tv then it could be the vizio. If a VCR is the problem your best bet it to leave it unhooked. If an amplifier is the issue try it without the amp hooked up. Now with the change over to digital you may not need an amp and can leave it disconnected. If Not you can easily replace the amplifier. If these don't work I would suggest contacting your cable provider so they can properly assess the electrical problem and assist you in fixing the issue before causing and damage to your equipment.
