and pull out your one ram from your ram bank. i mean to say decrease your ram speed.

open it up ..and see what is wrong with the first slot of ram memory ...if the inserted module is not working ...than remove it ..(to check if it works just leave it by itself and try to start the computer ..) anyway ..if there isn't any module in the first slot ..than move one from the last slot ..I mean mount the modules in slots from number 1 to ...as many you have available ...After finish ...restart ..press delete button right the way to go to bios settings ...and in here ..look for optimal factory default settings ..and engage them by selecting with arrows..and enter..and confirm with enter (Y)
to save settings before exit ..press F 10 ..and enter ..
This will assure the ram configuration ...in the correct way ..

Yes, 3d carsd will work in your computer, the only thing you have do is check and make sure that the computer can supply the power requirements for the card.
Some of the video cards run off of the system bus, while others require a seperate power lead attached to them, the same way you plug in power to a hard drive.
Both of the major manufacturers ATI, and NVIDIA, both make 3d cards that will work with your system.
The cards are all pci-e , as this is the fastest bandwidth the system provides for expansion cards.

Something else you will want to look at when upgrading, is what operating system you will be running it on.
Some of the lower prices video cards, even though they might support 3d, they may not support directx 11.
This is crucial if you are running Windows 7, because that is the version that 7 runs on.
Vista runs on dx 10, and xp and below can only run up to directx 9.

Just keep this in mind while shopping.
Both Best Buy, and Fry's carry large selections of 3d capable cards, just remember about the power requirements before you buy.

There is no need to "disable" firmware updates. The computer will only accept "valid" updates. So, how would somebody be able to access your computer, in order to try to update the firmware. Prevent access to your computer, and you will have prevented the firmware from being updated.

go into your Dell Maintenance program, or whatever it is called in the All Programs list under Dell. If it has updates listed then turn off or change setting so that updates are either not done or require your approval/management. Else, if your model does it thru Windows Update, do not do it! yes the power switch is called the i/o panel it connects to the system board of the computer by a wire or ribbon cable. You have to unscrew a screw.
