How to insert sim card

Probably nowhere. A desktop is not made for that, so I have a Mifi (MobileWifi) Mine is from Vodafone and is a Huawei enclosure with SIM card slot. this Mifi sends out a Wifi signal I can connect up to 5 computers, tablets or desktops with Wifi-card to. so for this solution you need: 1. A Wifi-networkcard in your desktop. Laptops do have it standard, because they are meant to be mobile devices. A Wifi- network card for desktops to be installed inside the desktop. You will need to install also a driver from a disk or download from support site from the manufacturer. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/24164-43-whats-wireless-adapter-desktop 2. A Mifi where the SIM can be inserted. Do a Google search for mobile hotspot to find a Device for that.

First i got a error message as "memory unsupported please update dimm1".After that i moved the ram to slot 1 after i restarted another error message showing"battery voltage is low ".what is the exact

these can be related as the main battery on the motherboard is need to retain cmos setting when a system is unplugged from a/c power for extended periods of time. so the loss of cmos would prompt you about certain components including amount of memory(pending no changes in memory amount/ slot location as a single chip unit must have the mem in slot 1). there is a round 3.0 volt battery that once reports bad, should be replaced. start there and see if you get any other errors. as there could be a problem with the powersupply or motherboard if that doesn't resolve it.

What does flashing power button mean when the computer won't turn on?

It generally means that the computer can not find its Bios. Try unplugging the computer for a bit and retry. I may work.

Can files be recovered from a failing hard drive?

Yes, files MAY be recovered from a failing hard drive, however the success depends on how badly the existing drive is functioning. What I would suggest (if you are able to boot into windows) is to go to a command prompt by using the start menu , then in the RUN box type the letters 'CMD' and hit enter. In the box that appears next, type the following text: chkdsk /f /r <then press enter>. The system will tell you that it cannot run the operation on the drive and ask if you want it to run on the next startup. Hit 'Y' then press enter. The next time your machine is rebooted, the system will run a drive scan checking for errors on the drive and repair what it can. That's step 1. Next you want to get your data to a new drive, so you will need to put a new drive in your machine along side the existing drive. You will need to connect a power cable from the power supply wiring harness, and an SATA cable between the motherboard and hard drive. (You may need to go into the system setup in order to activate the second SATA port. You do this by pressing the appropriate key to enter Setup when the computer boots. F2 on the Optiplex. Once you have the new hard drive in, you will need to use cloning software such as Acronis True Image. For this, since the drive you are cloning is probably a system drive, meaning you cannot clone it while you are booted into windows, you will need to create a bootable USB disk or CD/DVD, which can be used to boot to an alternate OS for the purpose of running the cloning software to clone the system drive while the system drive is not in use. There is a free trial of acronis true image here: http://www.acronis.com/en-us/homecomputing/trueimage/gettrial/ and instructions for creating a bootable disk here: https://kb.acronis.com/content/44741 If you decide this is too much work, you should be able to have the same thing done at a local computer shop for around $150 plus the cost of a new drive. (I'd recommend a solid state drive as your new drive). You'll appreciate the performance boost and prices are now pretty reasonable. Good luck!

Why does my desktop DELL Optiplex 1700L just flash YELLOW and refuse to come on, motherboard light is on

An Amber (Yellow) blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

Dvd RW not showing

lot of these showing up? is it old or new? could be drivers not loaded or were damaged. look at control panel-devices- find the dvd device in list to see if it has a yellow triangle or red x over it. if it shows and is normal without a colored mark on it, it probably needs the drivers reloaded or repaired.

Where is optiplex 755 mini tower service tag #

This is generally in a few places. It should be on a sticker on the front or top of the tower. There will also be a sticker on the back side of the chasis. It's an alphanumeric string 7 characters long. The sticker on the back may have a bar code above and below it on the sticker. You can also get the service tag from BIOS in most cases.

Computer shut down --- keyboard & mouse do not work to provide input-what can I do?

Hi Larry You can try this
  • Turn off the PC
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the PC
  • Press the power button and release it
  • Wait at least 5 minutes
  • Press the power button and release it
  • Connect the power cord to the PC
  • Power on the PC
If this not work then updating your chipset driver may help also, even if you already have the most current one installed. The chipset driver is a little different from other drivers. thanks.
