When you see "Mode Not Supported," hold down the "stop" button on the
Bluray player for about 15 seconds and release it. This should reset the player to the lowest resolution over HDMI.
Check other Bluray player settings such as deep color, resolution etc. for conflicts.
Sony Blu Ray S350 plays
It may be a problem in the digital section of the TV. If you find a part of the movie that blanks out, try rewinding back to it and see if it goes out again. It may also be the HDMI cable you are using. The blank out is often the result of the TV trying to adjust to the correct resolution for the program being played, and we need to diagnose why it is changing resolutions. Microwave interference and voltage fluctuations can also cause these issues.
My sony bdp-s350 has failed
You may have better luck than me -- try unplugging the unit. Wait two minutes. Before plugging it back in, hold down the Open/Close button that ejects the disc. Then plug it in. It may open the door.
My Blu-ray keeps saying no disc.
This can be caused by a number of different things, some simple ones are:
- Unplug for 5 minutes then replug, this will reset the processor and it may smarten up (just like rebooting a computer)
- Take the unit apart and using a Q-tip and lens cleaner gently clean off the lens of the laser...only do this is you feel comfortable. If there is a hair or obstruction on the lens it will not read discs. If it is still under warranty, send it in first before you take it apart, it may void warranty.
- If the above two do not work then the transport mechanism may be defective and the repair would be around 100 -150 dollars, which is probably not worth repairing and it is best to look at a replacement machine.
Hope this helps!
I cannot get sound when
The audio inputs must be paired with the video input. At the rear panel the input connectors are lined vertically to the left of the panel. Check that they are all in a vertical line.
If you are using the DVI connection then the corresponding audio inputs are at the top , in a box , right next to it.
My dog ate mi remote
Your dog ate your remote? wow, My best advice is get a universal remote capable of blu-ray player codes or try ebay for a replacement remote.
Hello,
Can you damage this player by inserting a
Hello,
the player cannot be damaged by inserting a standard DVD. This is just a coincidence.
Connect the audio part of the player into a receiver, insert and audio Cd and observe if the audio will play. If the audio doesn't play, then it means the board of the player is defective.
From my experience, I think your player is having a power problem. It must have received excess voltage/irregular power supply which has damaged an IC or capacitor on the power board of the player.
Sometimes this excess power supply might damage the player's main board. This is why it is advice able that you use step down for your player, because DVD player don't need excess power as something might be damaged.
To solve this problem, you will be needing a meter. Open the player, use the meter to read the components on the power board as it will help you discover the component that got damaged and you can then replace the bad component.
But if you do not have the knowledge of fixing this problem, you might be needing the help of a repairman.
Good luck.
Player is very slow to start
you can always check for upgrades in sonystyle.com .
blue rays devices tipically start slow, as they begin trying to connect online to get new upgrades, not just for the device, but also for the movies.
so far, you have one upgrade in sonystyle.com :
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=BDPS350&SelectOS=7
issued in November 2009. Which could be after the manufacture date of your device, so, you have to apply it.
Year old S350 plays normal DVDs happily but
Hi:
This is due to a faulty optics lens or mech assembly, the laser used for normal DVS's are red but when Blue ray is inserted the laster uses blue light or blue laser, you may have a defective laser.
Will not play any disc that it use to play.
I had the same problem with mine and took a chance. it would read dvds but not blu-ray disc. i have done this procedure before with a regular dvd player so i tried it with my blu-ray and it worked. First you must open the blu-ray and take the blu-ray/dvd drive out open it up expose the lazer eye reader (make sure the blu-ray player is unpluged) and clean the eye with cotton swab diped in rubing alcohol.i would recommend using a flashlight when doing so. do this lightly and dry the eyes with the other side of the swab. you will see the difference once you clean it. I opened mine up after cleaning it with a dvd cleaner and the eye was still dirty. the eyes had a light film on it. I seen this on my dvd players that i have cleaned before. the film was enough to make the player not read the bul-ray disc. do not try this if you are not comfortable taking stuff apart and putting it back togetter. i hope this fixes your problem.
