Above is the us version of your manual.
I suggest you look at the dvd/bd settings on page 46.
Check the manual for the discs you cannot play.
Check that the region code of your dvd matches the one on the disc..
If you want to mail it and must have a receipt
1.Find out the way they paid for your gift,if its with cards, they will have a record on paper or the internet of the spend.
2.Also check with the shop if you can prove that it was bought there, and they may issue you a copy receipt.
Your player needs a firmware upgrade from the manufacture. Most of the time you can do this with a usb stick. Other times, if the player has a ethernet plug on the back you can plug this in and it will update automatically. USB stick is the easiest way to go about the upgrade.
Try going to sony's website and downloading the firmware update for your player. The Blu-Ray format changes so much that sometimes the newer movies will not play without an update. You will need to download the firmware and burn it on a cd-rom. Pay special attention to the instructions....there is a certain procedure and if you do not follow the instructions you can damage your player.
I know this is an old one - but have you tried disconnecting it altogether from the mains for a few minutes then powering up again?
I have looked at the reset procedure for this model which is only a factory settings default and is unlikely to have any effect on the firmware as such. A reboot through temporarily removing the power might just work though.
If this fails then it seems as if the firmware update was corrupted somehow during the download and in the absence of the ability to roll back to the older version its likely that a return to Sony for service is the only answer here as they will need to reflash the unit.
Certainly worth trying the disk although as you say you are likely to get the same result.
If this fails a reflash is the only answer with corrupted data like this I am afraid and sorry to be the bearer of that news. I would certainly encourage you to give Sony some hassle on it to see if they will accept responsibility.
Phone them and keep requesting to speak to someone senior. Don't take no for an answer until someone up the line accepts responsibility. I have seen it work before believe me. At the end of the day their update has disabled your player. Don't accept excuses - keep your cool and push it up the line.
Hope this helps. Please do rate this answer. Many Thanks.
Have you re-connected the cable connection back into the TV from the player? There should be a lead going from the player & into the rear of your TV, I expect you are using a HDMI cable which has a a small flat-like end on the cable, re-connect this & try again.
first you can try a DVD/BlueRay lens cleaner disc, you can buy one locally, get one that is ment for these players.
If you are in warranty, taking the player apart will most likely void the warranty.
If a lens cleaner disc doesn't solve the problem, and you have some experience and few
screwdrivers you could open up this unit, get into the dvd drive and
use a Q-tip, wet on the other end and dry on the other one.
Most
people recommend Alcohol (70% or higher) for this cleaning, but I've
personally done it a few times with just water, not having the alcohol
nearby.
Heres a video on how to clean the lens, this is for a "ps2" but you clean all the laser lenses like this:
Its pretty simple. After cleaning the lens you can either put it back
together or leave it open and test it out be careful if you leave it
open.
If the disc still doesn't read you can try cleaning it ones more, clean it with the wet end and then dry it with the dry end.
This should solve the problem. If you are in warranty I would recommend agains taking it apart to clean it yourself, and in that case just contact your dealer or seller for repair.
Let me know if you have any questions. thanks, Ekse
Try having a look in options menu for playback repeat Functions.....i have been scrolling though the instruction manual for the unit and unfortunatley cannot find any info on repeating disc's over and over.
if you dont have a copy the manual can be found here: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/BDPS350_US.pdf 79 Pages of joy...have fun...sorry for not being a huge help!,ben
To view extra content on some blue ray disk you need an USM1GH Memory Vault unit connected at the back of the blu ray unit.
To use features on certain BD the player may need a Sony USM1GH like the one below:
Note: If the Blue Ray does not read any disk , then the problem is not the external memory, in that case call Sony ringing the number listed on the owner manual.
