I do not think that your generator has a voltage regulator. The solenoid is for idle only when there is no demand (power being used). You can verify this by examing the governor spring /tension adjuster on the engine. Idle control switch on panel and the assembly board control the solenoid. When the assembly board fails generally the generator will function the same however there will be no idle. I have checked with Dewalt and parts are available however expensive. If idle is the only problem you may consider ignoring issue. If there is another problem with gen. please email.

I am assuming that you have removed the end bell with field winding and the only obstacle is the rotor on the crank of the engine. I am also assuming that you were able to remove the long bolt thru rotor into crank. Now you will need to apply penetrating oil to the shaft of the engine to loosen the rust on the taper (tapered shaft fits very tightly into core of rotor). It may take several applications. Place a piece of hardwood against metal to protect the rotor and firmly rap with hammer on both sides. You may need to use pry bar against engine and rotor as you hammer hardwood. Repeat as necessary, some rotors will be very stuck due to rust. Good luck.

You may have to check the wiring, With the engine off check the following: they may be a loose wire, the brushes on the generator may be too worn. Check for continuity from the outlet all the way to the generator.

The most common problem if it has been sat for a while is rust on the ignition timing flywheel. If you take the pullcord housing off (recoil) then you will see a big flywheel with what can only be described as a big forked prong with a couple of wires on it. This flywheel should be stainless steel and rusts when sat around for a while without use. Its job is to complete the circuit to the spark plug every time the flywheel passes the forked prong at a given spot on the flywheel, the faster the wheel turns the faster the spark hence the engine runs quicker. Clen the rust off with a releasing agent (wd 40) hey presto!!!!!!!!!!!
