No Heat

The acid test would be to "jump it" and see if the heater functions normally. That's where you bypass the limit, taking it out of the loop. If you determine that the limit is the problem replace it, do not use the heater with the limit jumped. Otherwise it may be the heating element itself. They do go out after a while.

Can I change out a Hayward H400ID with an electric heater for the spa only? If so what electric heater product brand would you recommned. Raypak?

Hayward has manuals for each type heater, gas and electric.http://www.hayward-pool.com/prd/In-Ground-Pool-Manuals_10201_10551_14502_-1___I.htmHayward also has contact page, and can probably recommend correct change-over product. You want to switch from propane to heat-pump type. There are likely 3 areas of difference. Read each manual and generally look for 1) unit size and capability to match spa 2) pipe connections and sizes 3) Electrical requirementFrom electrical standpoint, You need GFCI-protected line from circuit breaker box, or GFCI (arc-fault) breaker. This will prevent electrocution risk around spa.http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-GFCI.htmlWire sizes are based on volts and watt-rating of heater. Each electrical device has rating plate showing volts and watts.3500 watts divided by 240 volts = 14.5 amps so install double-pole 20 amp breaker and use 12 gauge wire.1500 watts divided by 120 volts = 12.5 amps so install sinle-pole 20 amp breaker and 12 gauge wire.http://waterheatertimer.org/Color-codewire.html If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/gene_9f0ef4df2f9897e7

CAN YOU PROVIDE ME WITH A WIRING DIAGRAM AS MY

Not much to a heater , you have a rheostat that goes from high to low heat . A coil or maybe two ,one for high heat and the other for low heat . Most of the time though they use just one with different voltage levels contrlled by the rheostat and a thermostat (keeps it from over amping the coils ). So it is one of the three ,I would guess the thermostat especilly if trhe coil is still in one piece. Rheostat you can test with an ohm meter to see if the value changes (Power Off!) and if it does it works. The coil if you have resistance its good (Power Off !) . Unless the resistance is real high then it could be in bad shape . The circut breaker is saving you from a house fire so thnk God for that. If it does it on low heat as well then I would suspect your coil if only on high Its definately your thermostat

What could cause heater to run while pump is off

A faulty pressure switch - if it sticks in the closed position the heater will not recognize the pump is off. It is a pretty cheap fix. Kill the power to the unit, remove the covers. You notice a small metal disc about 3 inches in diameter with a plastic bridge covering one end. It will be screwed into the pipe and it should have two wires attached to it. Replace that part with one similar and you should be all set.

Check your high limit. This is the reset switch behind the rubber button on the face of the heater. It probally tripped during the process and didn't get reset.

My Raypak RP2100 heater, when starting for first time of the day, shows CFH, then SPK and then just buzzes.

The error codes and buzzing sound you are experiencing with your Raypak RP2100 heater indicate potential issues with the ignition and flame sensing components. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take: 1. Check Gas Supply: Ensure that there is an adequate supply of gas to the heater. Make sure the gas valve is fully open and that there are no obstructions or leaks in the gas line. 2. Inspect Ignition System: The CFH (Call For Heat) and SPK (Spark Ignition) codes suggest that the heater is having trouble igniting. Inspect the ignition system components, including the spark electrode, ignition control module, and wiring connections. Clean any debris or corrosion that may be affecting the spark ignition. 3. Check Flame Sensor: The buzzing sound you hear could be related to the flame sensing system. The heater may not sense the presence of a flame, causing it to shut down. Inspect the flame sensor for any buildup of soot, debris, or corrosion. Clean the flame sensor using a soft cloth or a non-abrasive brush. 4. Verify Proper Ventilation: Ensure that the heater's venting system is clear of any blockages. Blocked vents can lead to incomplete combustion and affect the heater's ignition process. 5. Consult the Owner's Manual: Refer to the owner's manual for your specific model of the Raypak RP2100 heater. It may provide additional troubleshooting steps and error code explanations that are specific to your unit. 6. Seek Professional Assistance: If the issue persists or you are unable to resolve it on your own, it's recommended to contact a professional technician who is experienced with Raypak heaters. They will have the expertise to diagnose and repair any complex issues with the ignition system. Remember, dealing with gas appliances can be dangerous. If you are not experienced with working on gas heaters, it is best to contact a qualified professional to ensure proper troubleshooting and repairs.

I have a Raypak 399L and the LCD screen shows Spa Set 100F. Under that it says sensor failure. It wont start up

It sounds like there may be a problem with the temperature sensor on your Raypak 399L spa heater. The "sensor failure" message indicates that the heater is not able to detect the temperature of the water in the spa. This can prevent the heater from starting up and operating properly. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the wiring: Make sure all of the wiring is securely connected and there are no loose wires or damaged connections.
  2. Check the temperature sensor: The temperature sensor is typically located in the heater itself. Make sure it is securely fastened and there are no visible signs of damage.
  3. Test the temperature sensor: Some models of the Raypak 399L have a diagnostic feature that allows you to test the temperature sensor. Consult your owner's manual or a service manual for instructions on how to do this.
  4. Replace the temperature sensor: If the temperature sensor appears to be damaged or is not functioning properly, you may need to replace it. This will typically require the help of a qualified service technician.
I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, don't hesitate to ask.

Raypak Pool Heater wont stay ignited

Hi, Please be careful when dealing with products using gas. Double check that the area around where ignition occurs does not have air blocked off as low oxygen would stop fire from occurring. You can also check fuel level of machine. Thank you.
