I changed my guard by cutting the rod that is crimped and I got a heavy piece of wire that was the same thickness of the rod and I shoved it through and bent or crimped the ends with vice grips . It works good now. I cut the old rod with bolt cutters but a hack saw will work.
GET ON YOUR COMPUTER PUNCH IN MAKE MODEL AND YEAR OF YOUR LAWN MOWER THE SITE WILL COME UP THEN PUNCH IN A REQUEST FOR YOUR MOTOR AND IT SHOULD GIVE YOU A MANUAL YOU CAN DOWNLOAD ON YOUR COMPUTER
i just looked up Quattro mower they are a 4 stroke engine and yes i would buy a 22 inch blade but be sure it fits this mower PS go to wall mart and check out their blades they are reduced now.
Most likely, you will have to replace your carb. diaphragm. Its between the carb. and the gas tank. It collapsed. So the gas is not going from the tank to the carb. as it should be. It will get some gas, but not enough to run right. (Its starving for gas)
You most likely have a partially clogged carb (main jet) and it isn't allowing enough fuel for the engine to run smoothly. This is fairly common. The carb needs to come off, get disassembled, and cleaned paying close attention to the small opening in the main jet.
the 4 stroke engine only needs petrol in its tank . if your motor has a dipstick for oil it is a four stroke ,,only two strokes requires oil and petrol mix as they have no oil sump in their design
It could be a couple of other things. But the things you have already doe are good!
1. Is it possible that water got in the fuel or fuel tank?This would cause the mower to run rough. 2. You may have a dirt in the carburetor, restricting the gas flow. 3. You may need to replace the gasket and diaphragm ($5.00) in the carburetor. You should do this anyway if you are gonna remove the carb. to clean it.

usually the only safety is the engine shut down control cable that is attached to a smaller handle on the main handle that you must hold to have the mower to start and run part number for the cable is 946-0957
Rewind recoil spring? jackssmallengines.com but you will need the engine manufacturer and the corrisponding the number you have provided is for the cutting deck wheels etc
