LG DLE5977 Stainless Steel Electric Dryer Questions & Answers
Crack in drum at seam
We had the exact same problem with our LG dryer but the crack was in the front near the door. The service tech as well as the engineer from the LG R&D department both agree that it is a manufacturing defect...the result of a poor welding job by LG. The service tech replaced the dryer tub today and the dryer is as quiet as when we first bought it. I paid for the part and the repair myself to get it fixed quickly. The service tech said to use it with the crack could be a fire hazard since the heating element is open under the tub. However, the service company we use will reimburse me for the cost of the part if LG agrees to reimburse them. I am in the process of working with the resolution department to get them to agree to pay for this part. It is no longer under warranty but since there engineer has agreed that it is a manufacturer defect, I am hopeful I will get my money back!

LG DLE5977s electric dryer drum not turning when warm
Could be one of the "overheat thermostat switches" has failed, or is failing.Could also be a big buildup of lint inside the machine (where you cannot see it) causing the switches to trip. In the back or the bottom of the machine are from 3 to 7 "overheat thermostat switches" that are put there to prevent fire. When the get hot, if they are bad, they will shut off the dryer until they cool off. Kinda sounds like one is "trippin' ". If you choose to fix it yourself, you'll need a good electrical test instrument and several tools to take it all apart. A question to "fixya" might get someone to tell you how step-by-step.Be blessed.

Hi.Check door switch, drive belt and drive motor. Door switch can be tested using an Ohm meter, drive belt is tested visually and the motor can be Ohmed or energized.
