Washer won't spin - reading LE - clothes sitting

Hi

Error code LE indicates that either the motor is not turning or has locked up for some reason. It can also be due to Hall sensor which monitors direction and speed of the motor. If the sensor is faulty then also this error appears. Motor lock can be caused by several things from a loose connector, to a bad motor. To make sure it's not a locked motor, try turning the drum with your hand. And, if there is any resistance while turning the drum or the drum doesn't move freely then the motor is locked and you'll need to get it replaced. If the motor seems to be fine then you would need to replace the Hall Sensor. To replace the hall sensor, take the back cover off. Take the big nut off and remove the motor rotor. Remove the bolts holding the motor windings. Remove the electric plug on the sensor and unclip it from the motor winding. Hope this helps...

I have mold all around

Problem:
The seal design on the washer traps water causing mildew to grow.

Solution:

If the door gasket has a small hole at the six o'clock position--it is clogged with soap scum. Use compressed air to blow this hole clear.
This allows water to drain back into the tub
If there's no hole--this is an older model LG which did not have this upgrade
Wiping the door gasket with a rag after the LAST cycle of the day helps prevent debris from accumulating. Some consumers add (1) teaspoon of bleach to a spray bottle with water--and spray the older type gaskets after the final laundry load finished--to keep the gasket clean.

LG Tromm washer wont spin through the spin cycle

This error generally happens when people try to run a bulky load, like a coat, rug, pillow, etc., using a high speed spin. For these loads, choose the low speed spin. After the cycle completes, if you think the clothes are too wet, power up the machine again but instead of choosing a cycle, just push the spin speed button until it shows the next higher spin speed (usually about 14 minutes will show on the display) and push start. The machine will usually be able to get to a faster speed now, as the clothes have some of the water spun out of them from the earlier low speed spin, allowing the machine to reach a higher spin speed without the Unbalance Error code showing up. Of course, you want to make sure the machine is on a solid floor with all the legs adjusted properly also.

I replaced the boot on

Bet the new one you got has a drain hole on the bottom and one on the top while the one you removed doesn't. I don't think the one on the top will cause a problem but from what I can see (as I just picked up a 4986ER0001D boot locally) the one on the bottom will let water out! I think there is supposed to be another part connected to it.
I'm going to try to plug mine before I install it.

LG Washing Machine Model # WM1832CW, Error LE shows up

Trouble shooting steps for LE error on WM1832CW:

1. Open back of the washing machine and control panel. Locate two wire harness coming out of main motor and main board. Check the wires for any cuts and harnesses for any corrosion. Fix the cuts and sand the corrosion to fix the issue.

2. Check the windings on the motor by pulling 3-wire connector from main board. Check resistance between each of 3 pairs using multi meter. The resistance should be 8-15 ohms. If one or more pair has no resistance reading then the winding is burned. Replace the rotor winding.
Rotor windings can be ordered from here: http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-wm1832cw-%3d%3di1266809&PartID=1266809

3. If windings are fine then the hall sensor or speed sensor or motor sensor or sensor assembly needs to be replaced. The hall sensor sits on the inside of the rotor winding. Hall sensor has 4 wire connector attached. To remove the hall sensor: Open the outrunner or magnetic rotor from the motor first. Remove a big bolt at the center of the motor by holding the magnetic rotor. Once bolt is removed, the magnetic rotor can be removed by simply pulling it straight out. You may have to wiggle it a bit. Now remove a screw holding a wire going to hall sensor towrds bottom left of the winding. Now remove six inside bolts holding rotor windings to the drum body. The rotor windings are heavy so be careful while removing the bolts. Remove two wire connectors from the rotor windings and pull out the windings. Lay the rotor windings flat facing connector side up. Remove the hall sensor by praying out tabs.

Hall sensor can be ordered from here: http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-wm1832cw-%3d%3di1268238&PartID=1268238

LG frontloader runs thru majority

The 'LE' error message indicates the control board has detected that the motor is either not turning, or has locked up for some reason. Monitoring the motor is the job of the hall effect sensor board which constantly determines the direction and speed of the motor and feeds that information back to the control board. If there is a problem between what the motor should be doing and what the hall effect sensor says the motor is doing, the 'LE' will be displayed and the cycle will be stopped.

Motor lock can be caused by several things from a loose connector, to a bad motor, or even the hall effect sensor failing or dislodging from it's mount. Any one or more of these components could have caused this error, but it is possible to separate the working from the non-working, just by following a process. The reason this particular unit has been on the injured list for so long is the first tech never followed a trouble shooting process to ensure the parts being replaced had actually failed.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Frequent LE fault code, found an extra 10 feet of

LE indicates a fault with the motor on the appliance.

LG suggest you switch off, wait for a minute, unplug the appliance.

Wait 15 minutes then plug it back in again.

Try the machine again.

If it's still faulty, you can try changing the Hall Sensor in the motor, this can sometimes cure the problem.

Unplug the machine and remove the rear cover. There are 4 Philips head screws. Take them out and remove the rear cover.

You should now see the rear of the motor, which is mounted to the back of the drum.

In the middle is a large bolt which holds the stator cover.

You'll need a 17mm socket and a ratchet to remove this bolt.

Remove the stator cover and place aside.

Toward the bottom-left, you will see a couple of wire bunches held to the motor by three screws. One holds a metal bracket, one actually holds a ground wire, and the last is through a plastic bracket toward the bottom. Remove these three screws and don't lose them.

Through the motor there are 6 bolts holding it onto the back of the drum assembly.

You'll need a 10mm socket and ratchet to remove them.

You will now have the motor off the back of the drum.

Disconnect the two wire harnesses from the motor.

Looking at the surface of this motor that was facing the DRUM (not the outside), you'll see two small pieces clipped onto it, toward the bottom.

The sensor you are looking to replace is the one that looks like a kitchen magnet.

It is attached by small clips. You'll see how it goes on. It's easy to remove.

Go to google and search for part number 6501KW2002A.

This will bring up an LG sensor assembly.

Double check with the supplier that this is the sensor for your appliance.

When you receive the sensor, simply reverse steps 1 through 5.

Once re assembled, try the machine again.

If still the same after this you'll need to replace the motor and/or control board.

I'm getting an OE error on my washer--lg tromm

The LG error code OE simply means "the pump is blocked". Presumably the water isn't being emptied properly. As with all error codes it is possible that there is a cause other than the exact description in the error code explanation but basically this error means as far as the washing machine is concerned it thinks the water isn't pumping out. A pump, or filter blockage is the most common cause but it could be caused by other faults such as a faulty pump, or even a blockage in the drain hose or somewhere else in the system etc.

LG themselves have some information on this error code..

My LG Washer stops running

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. LE' error message indicates the control board has detected that the motor is either not turning, or has locked up for some reason. The hall sensor is rather easy to replace, and is covered by a seven year part warranty (in US). It only takes around half hour to replace it with a new one. Take the back cover off. Take the big nut off and remove the motor rotor. Remove the bolts holding the motor windings. Remove the electric plug on the sensor and unclip it from the motor winding. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
