LG WM1814CW Front Load Washer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Suds are not supposed to leak from the top; means you are not using the right detergent. Use front loading powders. You can open up the top during next wash to locate where the leak is coming from (after changing powder). I understand suds appear in the window during spin....but leak? Caution when machine works with top open!

rate if helped pl........

hi Shellinator7.
check the small drain hose on the side of the pump that is clogged, then that is not a failure that will significantly affect the normal operation of the washer. If your washer is not draining okay and you don't mind catching some water that spills out of that pump filter area when you open it up, then you don't necessarily need to remove that front panel and bother with unclogging that small drain hose. If the large hose between the tub and the pump or the discharge hose between the pump and the house drain behind the washer is clogged, then you may need to open up that cabinet.
you could also check out this link and read up some more on this.

With any washing machine, it is vital to ensure that the load is evenly balanced when using a spin cycle. Redistribute washing by adding or removing items to ensure a more balanced load. ... If the door remains locked and the machine is displaying UE error, please run a drain program.5 Jul 2016

Open the little trap door on bottom front of unit. Unscrew lint filter trap. Drain water first with small tube.

Most likely the motor position sensor also known as the hall sensor. Pretty easy fix. Part is under $20. Check out self help videos at repairclinic.com or appliancepartspros.com.

If there is a back panel on the machine you can access it from there, if it has a enclosed back then you will have to lean the machine backwards against the wall to get underneath to access it. The pump has two wires attached to it make sure the power is off & lead removed from wall before you unplug them otherwise you get zapped. The drain pump is held into the pump casing/housing by three Phillips head screws. Undo the screws remove old pump and replace with new pump, make sure rubber seal is on the new pump before installing. You will need a torch & a Phillips head screw driver.

I had same problem. It was actually wearing out the rubber gasket on front door. It ended up being the spider on back of drum. They corrode pretty good with the front loaders.

Check that the pressure switch tube is connected to pressure switch. Check that the water inlet valve is not stuck open. To check start washer, turn washer off, if water continues to flow the valve is stuck open, replace.

Using a multi meter check for continuity the door switch, which when bad may not allow agitation or spin. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically.

Check the clutch, brake assembly and transmission, one way to check for slipping is to get under the machine after a spin cycle ( this is if u get a lil spin but not much leaving clothes still wet) mix in a spray bottle a lil water and some dish detergent, then spray it on the clutch assembly ( the metal round pc. Connected to the tranny) if it sizzles and steams up then u know its bad and slipping. Another way to check clutch if u get no spin at all? Is to take it out and use ur hand to try and turn the inner spring assembly pushing it around the inside? If its very easy, it BAD should be hard to push by hand.
Next check the motor coupler which engages the tub and tranny to the motor. ( if its bad u usually get no wash or spin or very little of either)

Next check for a loose, worn or broken belt if belt driven.

On some front load models u may need to check the STATOR assembly.
