I see no color option in the new version. Only Font and size. There is a place for a script running but you should just ask whoever you see with colour. It is possible they are using an outside IM widget that makes the nicey nice available that isn't on the stock package version.

jusr redownload and reinstall. when you log in with the new installation it will bring everythinmg back in for you.

reset your password if you get nothing in your email you have had your account stolen nothing you can do if they changed the password and reset email address

If you're talking about the little spinning arrow it really isn't it's just a quirk between Skype and the Browser Window.
