Factory reset
There is no such thing as a factory reset with Nikon cameras. The greatest reset (restore costume settings) you can get is in the Custom settings menu.
The first line in that menu is Reset custom settings. If you use that, it will reset more settings, that with the green button restore. It won't involve or switch back switches you have put from AF to M, on the camera body or on the lens.
If your camera does not show and ERR on the Control panel, it is not likely your lans has any problem.
Refer to the manual, to see how you should put all the switches on the camera if you are not sure you did something wrong.

Nikon D90 live view not working
The manual only gives the obvious things. Is your battery fully charged. You can select the time the monitor stays on c2. You even can select Monitor out c4. Check you did not select one of those. The last thing you could try if nothing of the above works, is remove the battery and after a few seconds put it in again.Last option, I'm sorry, but you should visit the dealer or Nikon suport center if nothing of this helps.

Fault finding
The green LED is called the memory acces lamp. When you switch off the camera is will write back the last changes. when you switch the camera on and off, the light ususaly will stay off, because nothing has changed. When you remove the card en put in another the LED will flash again. At least my D7000 with 2 card slots will do so, because someting changed and the system will write that into the memory.

DSLR D90 Built in Flash Will not Stay down..
I know this late but for anyone else who's had this problem. I just fixed the flash on my camera by using a really small1.2mm flathead screwdriver. The problem is that the mechanism that's supposed to catch the hook has gotten off center. Just stick the screwdriver into the little hole on the left side of the flash (right side when looking at it) and then as you turn it you should be able to see the object that's supposed to be catching the hook. Make sure that object is in the correct position and your camera should work again. Hope this helps!!!

Memory access lamp continually blinks
This may be that your memory card has a fault and the camera is trying to write to it.Can you try another memory card?Memory cards can develop faults.A memory card format in the camera may help but this will wipe all your photos.

D 90 nikon will not take any pictures and it is blinking r 05
What exposure mode(s)? What focus mode(s)?Set the camera to Manual exposure (turn the mode dial to "M") and turn off the autofocus (switch the lever on the front from "AF" to "M"). Does the camera take a picture now? Don't worry about getting a proper exposure or focus. We're just trying to see whether the camera takes a picture at all.

Nikon D90: Won't focus properly in automatic mode
Make sure the subject is well lit. The autofocus relies on differences in contrast to determine proper focus. Move to a well lit area or add additional light and attempt again.Make sure the aperture ring on the lens (if that lens has one on it) is set to minimum (highest number - f22 etc.) This value it often a different color ink than the others to help speed locating it. On most Nikon & compatible lenses, when the aperture is set to minimum, the camera's main & sub command (thumb and finger) dials will control the aperture and shutter speed. When the shutter is held down 1/2 way, the aperture will open fully (to allow the most light in and speed composition) and then automatically stop down to the commanded value when fully depressed for the exposure. If you have the aperture set on the lens to something different - it may be preventing sufficent light from entering and interfere with the autofocus function. Good luck!

When I import from the camera to iphoto, duplicates of every picture import
I have the same problem!!! Every single time I import from my Nikon D90 I get duplicates of each photo on Iphoto. It never happened in 4 years, just recently does happen. Is it a setting from camera or from Iphoto? How to avoid this, without having to create separate folders on desktop as mentioned above. I just want to plug the USB and download on Iphoto without doing anything else. It gets frustrating as I usually download thousands of photos each month.

I'm getting a r16 error on my D90
The "r16" in the display is not an error code. It is simply informing you of the number of exposures that can be held in the camera's internal high speed memory before shooting would have to stop while the D90 transfers the pictures to the memory card. If you held the shutter release, you could watch the r16 value decilne by one for each exposure (r15, r14, r13, etc.).Page 256 of the D90 User's manual indeed shows the Err error
code, and defines it as a "Camera Malfunction", "Release shutter. If
error persists or appears frequently, consult Nikon-authorized service
representative." The "err" error code is a generic error. The
camera has detected a problem, but it doesn't know exacly what, similiar to the fEE code. The "err"
code could be camera / lens contacts or it could be a
circuit board or even shutter failure. You've already tried the common contact cleaning fix (that never seems to solve the problem) without any luck, so you might have to call Nikon Support and arrange for service.Good luck!

Haw to reset d 90 with factory setting like new camera
Use the two-button reset. Press and hold the exposure compensation and AF buttons together for at least two seconds. These buttons are marked with green dots. This will not reset everything. The full list is given in the "Two-Button Reset" section of the manual (page 75 in my copy). If you need a manual you may download a copy
from here.

What is use of AF button
By default, this button locks the autofocus and exposure. It can be reconfigured to lock only one or the other, or other things. See the "f4: Assign AE-L/AF-L Button" section of the manual (page 200 in my copy). A fuller description of the focus lock is given in the "Focus Lock" section of the manual (page 57 in my copy). If you need a manual you may download a copy

I cleaned lenses and mirror
The mirror on a DSLR should never be touched except by a qualified service technician! Not only do you risk removing the finish ( unlike a regular mirror, it is on the front of the glass, not the back) but the delicate placement of the mirror and it's lifting mechanism can be misaligned by any pressure.
