Is there a free software that i can get to run hardware test on my system i took this hp slimline to the repair shop and they told me that they ran Eurosoft pc check,pc Doctor and HP vision Diagnostic

when loading an os you have to completely remove the existing os or there will be compatibility or nothing will change you can try another repair shop but if the shop was pulling a fast one , you would be paying for a whole lot of items and not just for the test if you can get messages on the screen then go to control panel , personalization and display and see if the color , contrast and pixel settings can be adjusted to fix the problem

How do I remove password from vista

If Windows notifies you of lassa.exe errors, the cause may be the result of damaged or corrupted registry entries. In most cases, it helps to check the Windows registry for lassa.exe errors! If this does not fix lassa.exe errors, its recommend uninstalling the program using the Control Panel and then running a scan of the Windows registry again.

Computer will not turn off

Which operating system >??? Learning how to use all of the settings and what they mean can help extend the life and speed of a computer. The sleep, hibernate and shutdown settings can help save energy when your computer is not in use. These modes are used when you are away from the computer for an extended period of time. The sleep mode will store any open information on the hard drive while the computer switches to a lower power level, but it allows you to turn the computer on and resume work where you left off. Changing these settings in your computer is easy. Click on the computer's start button. Find the Control Panel option and select it with your mouse. Select Power Options. You will see several options. There should be an option that is already highlighted or selected. This is the current setting on your computer. Click on Change Plan Settings. Your current settings will be displayed. Click on Change Advanced Power Settings. Choose settings. Click on the plus signs in the new dialog box. This will display any options that are available. You will be able to change your sleep, hibernate, and shutdown settings. For instance, you can choose to have your computer hibernate at a certain time, or even wake up at a certain time. If you have a laptop, it will also give you the option to set these while plugged in, or if on battery mode. Click on the Restore Plan Defaults button if you want to reset all changes back to the default setting for your computer. Click the "OK" button when you are done selecting your settings. Select the Control Panel box that still shows your basic power settings. Click on the "Save Changes" button. Exit the Control Panel. Your settings are now saved and are in effect.

How do you know if you needa new battery?

The only battery there is in a desktop PC is the bios battery. If you mean that, then you know it's time to change it when you get 'bio setup error' messages when you turn on the machine.

My pc turns on but windows does not open

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact. Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

Pc does not boot up

Test your PSU power supply unit or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/f/powersupplytest.htm WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source. Some of the below steps recommend removing physical parts within the computer. While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards Remove the memory modules from their slots. Take the opportunity to clean the slots on the motherboards and the memory module connectors. Use compressed air to blow dust away and clean contacts with a soft cloth. Do not use a metallic vacuum cleaner if it touches any component it may create a short and cause damage to the motherboard or other components. Do not use solvent that may attract dust and never poke things like cotton buds in to slots. lightly rub an alcohol (Methylated Spirits) on a cloth not to hard let the alcohol do the work on the copper gold or silver tabs and r Allow the pins to dry. They will air dry in a matter of minutes. If reseating the memory did not resolve the issue try swapping the location of the memory. If you have only one stick of memory in the computer try moving it to another slot and then boot the computer. Check the memory module and memory slot contacts. They are either copper tin or gold. The colour will tell you which they are. Mixing tin and gold can result in corrosion that prevents proper contact. Look for any sign of physical damage to the memory module, memory slots or the motherboard. Reseat the memory modules. You should hear an audible click when they are in place. Do not use too much force to reseat the memory module in to the slot this can cause damage to the module, slot or motherboard. The hardware that you are trying to access is damaged or failing. The device drivers for the hardware are faulty or incompatible. Could be a problem with the Hard Drive or the Hard drives PCB http://www.onepcbsolution.com/ There is a connection problem such as a bad cable for internal hard drives Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty if its a flat 40pin ide this will be the first to fail Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd and floppy (If Applicable) have secure connections and are not faulty. or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error Hope this helps.
