No matter if secure or not will not connecet to wifi

Sony's Sony Vaio laptop features built-in wireless LAN adapter that allows the computer to connect to any wireless access point.

If you want to adjust the device's WiFi settings, you must use the proprietary software and hardware that comes preinstalled on the laptop and the Internet connection options that come with Windows.

Once you have all of the correct settings enabled, you can have your laptop connected to a wireless access point without any additional applications.

Enabling Wi-Fi with Wireless LAN Switch

Before you can connect to a wireless network or change any of your Wi-Fi settings, you must first enable the computer's Wi-Fi feature with the wireless LAN switch.

This switch is located directly below the laptop's screen and is labeled "Wireless." Once you have located the switch, slide it into the "ON" position.

Enable Wi-Fi in Vaio Smart Network

Once Wi-Fi has been enabled with the wireless LAN switch, you must enable Wi-Fi using the laptop's proprietary wireless connection software, "Vaio Smart Network."

To access this program, click the "Start" button in the computer's task bar and select the "All Programs" option.

Select the "VAIO Smart Network" option to launch the program.

Alternatively, you can click the VAIO Smart Network icon in the computer's task bar to launch the program.

This icon is in the shape of a green button with two white arrows on it.

Once in the application, click the switch to the right of the "Wi-Fi" heading to toggle it to the "ON" position.

Windows Connect to a Network

With Wi-Fi enabled, you must connect to the wireless network using the

"Connect to a Network" feature that is a part of the Windows operating system.

Click the network icon in the computer's task bar to bring up a list of the available wireless networks.

This icon is in the shape of a computer and an Ethernet cable if you not connected to a network.

If you are connected to a network, it is in the shape of signal bars.

Select the desired wireless network from the menu that appears and select the "Connect" option.

Enter the networks password if necessary and connect to the network.

Network and Sharing Center

If the wireless network that you want to connect to does not appear in the "Connect to a Network" window, you must connect to the network manually.

Click the network icon in the computer's task bar and select the "Open Network and Sharing Center" option.

Click the "Manage wireless networks" option, followed by the "Add" option.

Click the "Manually create a network profile" option and type the network's information in the spaces provided.

Place a checkmark next to the "Start this connection automatically" option and click the "Next" button to connect to the network.

Hope this helps

The o often skips on my wireless keyboard

Sounds like the o key might be going bad which means replacing the keyboard. Did you spill a liquid on the keyboard? You could use your mouse pointer and the virtual keyboard to get the letter O when ever you need it.Go to www.google.com and in the search box type:"download.cnet.com" (without the quotes). Click the link to goto the site and look on the left side when the site opens up and you will see agray area that says FIND SOFTWARE. In the white search box under FindSoftware type: "Virtual Keyboard" (without the quotes) and click themirror to search. When the search results come back look for FREE VIRTUALKEYBOARD. Download and Install it. It's totally FREE. Alsouncheck anything that pops up other than the license agreement during thedownload and installation. You only want the Free Keyboard and not theother junk. You can use it to solve your keyboard problem. Just open up whatever it is youwant to type on such as the web address in an browser, a word document, etc.,then open the Free Virtual Keyboard and it will sit on top of whatever you weredoing. You can move it around so that it is not in your way also.

Laser is going bad in your dvd drive. You'll need to replace the drive. Look to see what programs are running when you boot into windows and disable them. If your cursor is still jumping then there is a problem with your mousepad and it would need to be replaced.

Iphone not recognized when attached with usb

Try using different usb ports on your computer. If it doesn't work then try hooking up your iphone to another computer. If it still isn't being recognized then try a different IPHONE USB cable. If your Iphone still can't be recognized after all of this then read the article at the link below.http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 Also try restoring your iphone to factory defaults if necessary. This is a last resort. If your iphone still won't get recognized by the computer then it could be the connection on the Iphone is defective and in that case replacing the phone is the only option.

Cd/dvd driver not working

If the tray ejects out then you can try to clean the optical lens eye of the CD drive. If there is no scanning when a disc is put into the drive-- listen to noise of spinning- then it is possible that the drive is faulty.
you can try and reinstall the drivers once again or restore the laptop to an earlier set point so that the drivers are reset. if not the hardware is faulty and you must check with Sony for an estimate.
