I have the same issue. TV is ~ 2 yrs old. Ruled-out cable-box & HDMI cables (green present in menu mode with no cables attached).

Screen turns mostly green, with a crappy picture. After a few days, a normal picture just appeared. Today I powered-on, the green screen stuff came up, then a minute later a good picture for about 20 minutes, back to green-stuff for 10 seconds, then good picture.

Sounds like there may be some bad electrolytic capacitors on the power supply module. This has been a common problem on for this model. There are 2 caps that are 1000uf / 10 volts that commonly go bad on this set. All caps on power supply module that are domed or mushroomed on top rather than flat will need to be changed. Eventially it will get to where it will not come on at all if not fixed soon. If you have any experience working w/ electronics, this a very simple and inexpensive repair to make.yourself. If you take it to a shop, you'll probably pay anywhere from $100-$200 to get it fixed, if it is indeed bad capacitors. If you need any more info just let me know. I've repaired many lcd's w/ this problem before. I would definately start by checking the caps. If you do it yourself, make sure you put them in correctly. You have to make sure the positive/negative pins are in the right position as it's printed on the board.

Steps to view a video tape:
1 - connect the vcr to the tv using the appropriate cable - in your case a S-VIDEO one.
2 - select the S-VIDEO as a source in the tv menu.
3 - press PLAY on the vcr's case to start playing the tape.

You may have problem due to unstable power supply due to bad DC filter caps, or short circuits in the backlight inverter board that caused the power supply to go into the shutdown mode, those are the two areas to check. You can try disconnecting the inverter board from the power supply to see if other functions of the TV will come back.

The Tuner board have problems.That the board where the coalax broscast signal plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish Tuner board for the replacement.

That 46" LCD panel will caot you more than the TV iself, you can try contacting www.shopjimmy.com to see if he has his panel in stock, you may have to get the information as printed on the label on the back of the panel.

Since unit is less than 1 year old, it would be covered under Samsungs warranty. Call 1-800-samsung and they will set you up for repair with an authorized service center. Your problem could be caused by a bad power supply board or a bad main board.

I work on Daytek 4660 models. I have seen the problem you are having and have solved it a couple of times by replacing all the capacitors in the power supply. If you use an oscilloscope to measure the voltages they may appear fine, however I have solved this problem by replacing all the capacitors in the 2ndary circuit of the power supply. It doesn't always work, but has worked in about half of the TVs that have come in with this problem. Also, just to make sure, if you remove the shielding from the board that drives the LCD panel make sure the little smt fuse is good. It's right on the 5V power line close to the ribbon connector from the main board.

I think it is the 12V source have problem, it need measuring on the circuit, the power supply; main board; t-con board could cause that problem.

Your Samsung LCD TV needs a new power supply. You can obtain one by part number from sites such as shopjimmy.com, discount-merchant.com or tristatemodule.com.

check your power supply capacitors. If any of them are bulging at their tops replace them

Either the T-Con bd or the Main bd is going bad. Start with the T-Con bd first.

Why do you use VGA-HDMI cable? This TV works fine with VGA cable - it has VGA plug.
Or if your notebook has DVI output, then you can use DVI/HDMI cable and connect it to the TV to plug named DVI/HDMI (only one HDMI input is marked as DVI on TV).
I suppose that over HDMI the TV supports only some standard resolutions, but over VGA it supports almost every resolution laptops use. You can find supported resolutions for each input in the TV manual. Try setting the same resolution on the laptop.
