Disconnect the AC power for at least one minute to reset the clock. Adjust the volume to the minimum using the Volume down button on the front of the unit. That is not the problem, a circuit board is shorted out and it shuts off as a safety function. The cost to repair can be as high as $500.00 New TV's are very cheap I would just replace it. Proscan is not the best brand for reliability, Vizio is better and cost only slightly more at walmart

The LCD is breaking down and the voltage regulator in the power supply (hence the hum) can't provide enough gain to energize the crystal so it flickers and acts up. These often get damaged in transit. (Time for a new TV/monitor. Bear in mind that such consumer electronics only have a useful life of 6 years.) These off-brand TVs purchased from supermarkets like COSTCO and Wal-Mart are notoriously problematic. Take it back, if you can and demand your money back. Don't get another one to replace it! Depending upon where you live, most consumer electronic devices have an Implied Warranty (unwritten) of one year from the date of purchase for merchantability (meets safety standards) and free of defects. It may also have a Specific Warranty (written) which lists other conditions. Stick with reputable brands like Panasonic, LG, Samsung, Philips, Toshiba, and Sony, if want some measure of quality control and reliability. There is a reason why they cost more!

Why would there be no sound if the LCD panel is bad? This sounds to me as if there is a problem with the power supply circuit board. Obviously, all systems would not fail because of a bad LCD. May have a shorted capacitor or something as simple as a fuse that's gone out on the Power board.

Good day!!!!That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..1. Open the back cover of your TV.2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

In fact the set is now 'dead'. Might be power supply regulator board fault. Can't predict any thing more at this condition. We have to make set alive to see whether there is any more fault or not. Seek tech support.

Bad third world capacitors in the power supply. Change the noisey cap to better quality.

If backlight/s do not come on first have the voltage going to them checked, also the set has a circuit that controls them and will not turn them on if something else is wrong---missing the voltage is first thing to check.

I have been answer this earlier,=========================Hi Mike, I worry the AV PCB was damage on your TV. But prior to get repaired / replaced , first please check your audio line like wiring terminals/ connection. If nothing problem there, you need to repair /replace the AV board. Regards
