This could be a lot of things.. You did not post the model number of the television but you may have interference from other devices in the home and it the remote is not infrared then you may have stray radio waves causing problems.

You need to connect the coaxial cable from the antenna to the TV's coaxial RF (TV) connection. (Really old antennas may need a signal adapter - 300 Ohm to 75 Ohm.) Then make sure that the current video source (sometimes labeled Input) is set to TV. I suspect something is wrong with the memory back up of the TV. It could be chip problem, or the power to the chip is lost due to a capacitor failure. Unless you are good at electronics it's one for the repair man.

I think your tv has picture tube problem. Bring it near to a mechanic.
