Fargo HDP5000 Thermal Printer Questions & Answers
Why when i use new ribbon ymckk printer show error 122?
That error usually indicates the ribbon is not loaded properly in the carrier. Please double-check to ensure the spools are inserted in the spaces with the matching color (i.e. - blue to blue; orange to orange), and that the ribbon is threaded the LONG WAY around the carrier, such that it passes over the silver-metallic rollers. Note also that the ribbons MAY have a spot of glue on them from the factory that is there to keep it from loosening or unrolling during shipment. After threading the ribbon properly, turn the take-up spool by hand to ensure that ribbon material is moving smoothly from the feed spool, and is not stuck.
How do I print edge to edge on Fargo HDP5000?
Access the printer-driver settings (Windows=>Devices and Printers=>Right-click on device, select "Printing Preferences"). Next, click the "Image Transfer" tab. Here you can make some adjustments to the image position - both vertically and horizontally.
If this doesn't help, double-check your page-size and print-parameters in your software. You should be outputting to a "CR80" sized card, and (if present) your margin settings should be 0 for all of top, bottom, left, and right.
If that doesn't help, then you may have to perform ribbon and/or film calibrations. These are available through the "Self Test" menus within the Printer Information screen of the (free) Fargo Workbench Utility program.

To print with UV on a Fargo HDP5000 printer you first need to get a UV color ribbon: YMCFK. The part number is 84061.
After you have your UV ribbon installed you will have to load your cards and tell the printer where you want that special UV logo/design to go. The easiest way to do this is by using Asure ID Solo 7 software. This design software is made by Fargo and has a check mark box on the top where you can either turn the UV design on or turn it off depending on how you plan to create your card. Asure ID Solo 7 costs about $150 but it's very easy to use and makes the print process easier.
There is a second option which involves not using Asure ID and instead creating your UV design through Fargo's "Work Becnch". This process of creating UV designs through work bench is slow and not the most efficient but it is free.
Print film out
Check to see if your print film is literally out.
Make sure the film roll is installed correctly. The machine senses a micro chip on the roll (RFID), to determine - Type, Amount left and Presence.
Fargo HDP5000 HDP5k H5k Ribbon Breaks Error 97
You need to update the printers firmware. 9 times out of 10, this is the issues I see.
Go to HIDglobal.com. Under the support tab, select Drivers & Downloads. From here, populate the drop down menus with Make and Model. Compare the available firmware with the firmware version current installed on the printer.
Hit [Options] then [Next] on the printer to figure out the version.
On this same web page, make sure to download the Fargo Workbench Utility. It gives you the ability to update.
Fargo HDP 5000 heater error 161 fault
This error usual occurs after a large print job (50 prints in a row). Try shutting off the printer, and leaving it off for a good 15 minutes. Turn back on and retry.
If the problem persists, then you should contact a service center. It seems to have a failure in an internal sensor.
Hdp5000 colour problems
Update the printers firmware. This is always my first step when servicing these printers.
Drivers Downloads
On this same page, make sure to download the Fargo Workbench Utility (towards the bottom, under "misc"). This application is needed in the updating process and is very useful when dealing with settings issues, like this.
How do i fix the shifting in color problem?
Go to your "printers and faxes" in your start menu (or equivalent menu, depending on version of windows). Right click on the printer and select "Printing Preferences". Select the "Image Color" tab. Find the selection, under "Heat", labelled "Dye-Sub Intensity". Click the scroll tab, and drag to the left. You want to lower this to -%10.
This will lower the heat used during transfer.
If the Problem persists, try updating the printers firmware.
