Craftsman 4" Drill Press Vise, Side - Plate Angle Questions & Answers
I have a 10 year
Most of the chucks that I replace are seized or missing one of the jaws. I have a variety of ez-out bits and jam one into chuck then turn with air impact(you can use an old bolt, grind to taper with groves to fit jaws, you can be creative here, then use socket with impact ) . Works most every time. I do not like to use high torque if there is a gear ruduction drive. If I feel that I may damage gears, I will use a dremel with cutoff wheel and cut the chuck down both sides to remove outer cover, then cut into threaded part of chuck untill close to thread. Insert stout screwdriver into cut and crack open whats left of chuck. Takes about 30 minutes and may use two or three small cut-off wheels. Good luck

Craftsman Drill Press chuck problem
It is unless there is a tang on the end. What you need to do is thoroughly clean the parts with something like brake clean to remove all the oil and then wipe with a clean paper towel. What I do it put the arbor into the drill press or the chuck onto the arbor and then put a 2x4 on the table and press the parts together or if you have enough room fully retract the jaws and use the block of wood to "tap" the parts to seat them. Let me know if you need more assistance
I need the owner's manual
You can go online with Sears and get the manual via online. You can also contact customer service and they can direct you. Craftman tools have their website you should find something there
