Watts Onan Portable Generator - 5000 , Model# 6500 - Page 2 Questions & Answers
I have a onan 6.5
More likely the switch is bad, and only make run contact when in the start position.
Easy to test the switch continuity with a ohm meter when it is not running.
Just paid over 1,500 last year an has not rungood
This generator is a 5KW model. This means it can supply up to 5000 watts of power, total. Not all devices list the watts they need to be provided - instead these devices list the power they need as volts and amps. This can make it hard to determine what the actual watt requirements are for the device.
Overly simplified, watts is equal volts times amps (watts = volts x amps). A single 120 volt light bulb that uses .833 amps consumes 100 watts. If you checked a regular 100 watt light bulb with an ammeter, you'd find it does indeed draw .833 amps.
Working the formula a different way, we can learn how many amps this 5000 watt generator can supply at 120 volts, too. If all the loads you need to connect to this generator are 120 volt types, that means the total amount of amps the generator can supply is 5000 watts / 120 volts = 41 amps purely resistive loads (like a toaster or light bulb) maximum under ideal conditions. There is never a time when ideal actually happens, and not all loads are purely resistive - many are inductive. Inductive loads are motors (like your A/C), fluorescent lamps, computer power supplies, etc. - so figure more like around 30 amps total instead.
If you try to connect devices that require more than 30 - 35 amps, the generator will probably have problems trying to supply this load for any longer that a short length of time. Additionally, motors like those in A/C compressors draw significantly more power when first starting and can cause the problem you are describing. Try running the generator with loads other then the A/C to see how well it can supply the load(s). Or try running only 1 A/C unit and other non-A/C loads.
What I'm trying to tell you is that you may need to do some active load management to be sure that you aren't trying to get more power out of the generator than it is capable of supplying. You may need additional generators or swap this one to a larger size to handle the load properly and safely.
I hope this helps & good luck!
Nokia model 5000 PIN blocked. Enter PUK code
A
request for a PUK code ("Personal Unlocking Key") will appear on your
phone if your SIM card PIN code is entered 3 consecutive times
incorrectly.
Your SIM card will then become
"PUKed" or Blocked. This is a security measure to protect your service.
You
need to call the Customer Service department of your cell phone
provider and they will give you the PUK code which will unblock your SIM
card.
Starts easily, run for 5 to 20 minutes and then
If the fuel filter (strainer) is OK, carb gives enough fuel for the load you apply, air filter is dry and clean, your problem may be the low oil level protection.
Check if generator is at level position.
After the oil is distributed in all the engine its level may go less than the measuring sensor level. Try to put some more (not much) oil.
If this will not help your measuring sensor may be bad and switch off when the oil gets hot.
How to fix a genset 6500 generators that stops
Check the oil level or any other alarm that can stop it.
The switch may have lost its middle stable position and drop directly to stop.
Try after you have the switch up for starting, let it easy back in middle position. If there it stops again. Try to move the switch down to "Stop". You should hear a click. If not replace the switch with the same type.

Need battery for Onan 6500 Generator
I have searched but cannot actually find what type male of battery it uses, other than it is a Lead Acid Battery. Now with lead Acid batteries, it is the actual Capacity, in Both Amperage output, and Physical capacity. So based upon that ANY 12 V DC Wet Cell battery of the SAME Physical size, and CURRENT capacity will work. Look on the actual battery itself, it WILL/Should have identifying marks written on it. Get one the same, it is NOT all that critical.
It takes a lot of cranking to get started
Possible cause is a fouled plug, remove and clean plug or replace plug. Clogged fuel filter, air filter. I hope this helps, please rate if this has been helpful. Good Luck and have a great day. Jeff
I have a Onan 7000 genset in my rv It starts and
Either you have a kill wire ( if I remember it is the brown wire) that is disconnected on one end or the other Or your in coach switch is bad.
Check the switch this way
Remove the switch from the dash/ mounting surface unplug the brown wire - start the genset - ground the brown wire - it should kill the motor
If it kills the motor your switch is bad
I have a 1988 honey motorhome with a 5.0 cck onan
It is a wire to let the charging system know what voltage/amps, is being devoloped. It has a diode to check the voltage one way.
Take a volt meter. Put it on OHMS. You should read only one way, if not replace it.
Onan model 5BGMFA26105D GENERATOR need to replace
Hi, well i would take the starter motor off and check out the "Bendix" spring, that is the part that "Throws" the start gear into contact to mesh with the starter ring gear. Often these simply "Seize" and need a good whack and lube... try that first before outlaying any money, this just may fix it. Also check to see if the solenoid is OK, do this by applying 12 V DC to the solenoid, wires, and see if it activates, also check that the "Contacts" aren't "Blown Off" by putting a meter set to OHMS across the solenoid contacts and when activated it should go "Short Circuit" across the terminals.
