Drive belt diagram model 917-276051

the closest thing to a "drive" belt diagram would be in the owners manual http://www.manualslib.com/manual/487688/Craftsman-917-276051.html?page=38#manual the horizontal (front) end would be to the pulley at the engine that the deck belt(s) are not attached to. There is a set of mid pulleys where the direction is changed from horizontal to vertical for attachment to the transaxle.

Replace belts on 917-271821

The deck has an idler pulley that keeps tension on the belt. The idler pulley is mounted on a pivoting bracket, that has a spring which provides the tension. You have to move the bracket so as to take the tension off the belt, thereby allowing you to slip the belt off the other drive pulleys

I have a craftsman LT 2000 22 horse, the engine sounds like it's struggling and bacfires?

Probably a fuel issue. Backfiring is usually a timing or fuel issue. One can cause the other. As this is an engine issue, please post model and type.

MTD 42" zero turn transmission belt jumps left pulley on start

A little wd40 on each pulley arm assembly, make sure they move freely and good time to check the belt and belt brakes if equipped. I assume your belt was recently removed or installed and is not following the correct pattern. Is this the issue ? It's very common for people to install their belt around pulley in different direction and belt is not ( or is ) riding on the Idler pulley, other, or guides incorrectly. Under the chassis somewhere is a label for belt pattern and is usually under the left side foot grip of the chassis. ( Lifting the mower ? ) Be sure to have some chunks of wood available. I use 2x4 and 2x6 scrap to hold up the machines without use of jackstands or any jack which causes damage.
