Hi michel amor
If you are using the timer nothing will happen until the time you set for the breadmaking process to begin occurs. In other words if it 8 am and you want your bread several hours later then your bread machine will do nothing until several hours later. If you don't want to use the timer and you just want to be sure that your paddle turns and kneads the bread go ahead and push the stop button and hold it down until it beeps. Unplug your machine, then plug it back in. Then do this:
----push select
----choose your program ( for example choose #1 basic)
---choose your crust color
----choose your loaf size 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0 pounds
----push the start button
----your machine will start mixing with the paddle
----if your machine is cold it may warm up for about 15 -20 minutes but it will start mixing within 1/2 hour.........hope all this helps
The bread machine was finished and upon opening
Hi, a common mistake that people make using bread machines is to use the wrong kind of flour. If you are using all purpose flour it will not perform well. You need to use flour marked "bread flour" on the bag. Also the yeast and water have to be at the right temperature. I could probably help you better with a chat on fixya, but perhaps what I have already suggested will help. If you want to chat I suggest 7:00 pm eastern time tomorrow. email me back if you want to try that.

I cannot cancel a program once it has started,
I had this problem too initially with my bread machine. I found that when I held the stop button longer it eventually kicks in. It was very confusing at first. Don't know why these machines work like this. I guess it's good that the unplugging doesn't hurt the cycle as it will protect your loaf in the event of a short power outage. Anyhow, try keeping your finger/thumb on the stop button for a longer time and see if that helps. All the best. H.
The additional ingrediets beeper is not beeping.
If you have your manual there is another way to handle the add-in beep. Find the page that shows the lengths of each program. The programs that have the add-in beep usually show the time that it occurs. So if you watch your timer you'll know when its close.
Sometimes I just set the timer on my oven because it is much louder than the bread machine alert and it doesn't stop until I turn it off, unlike the bread machine which shuts off after a few beeps.
Just synchronize your oven timer with the timer on the bread machine.
Example:
with my machine my manual says that when the timer says 2:35 the beep will sound with the sweet bread program for a 1.5 lb. loaf light crust. I just take the subtract that from the time of the total program and set my oven timer for that time. When I hear the oven timer go I add my fruits, nuts, etc.

Do you still have your old machine? If so try one of the recipes that failed in your new machine. If it fails again you may have bad ingredients. Old yeast, old flour, etc....that's the only thing I can come up with based on what you have described. If the loaf in your old machine turns out well then you should return your Black and Decker. You can find good deals on ebay on used bread machines that are tested and they show the loaf of finished bread. I have some for sale there, that I have baked in.

Don't get discouraged. Most new users of bread machines make some mistakes in the beginning.
Some things to remember: Don't lift the lid and peak inside... you'll let heat out especially during baking....recommend rapid rise yeast not active dry....I use half the salt recipes call for especially with whole wheat. Recommend you try some recipes first with unbleached bread flour, basic white bread recipes so you'll get a good rise and get your confidence up and then try whole wheat.
Maybe some of these tips will help ....
Bread is not rising very much, I live in Canada in

I have an electronic copy of your manual. I can email it to you for free or if you want to order a hard copy that I would print out on my printer. I would have to charge something for a hard copy to cover postage, paper, ink etc... The electronic copy would be free. Just let me know which you prefer.
Please rank/rate this solution so I can continue helping others with their bread machines.

If you chose the "whole wheat program" it may have a delay cycle. Many whole wheat programs on bread machines Try turning it on with no ingredients in it. You won't hurt the machine doing this. If it hasn't started kneading within 30 minutes then it is definitely broken. For example one of my madhines is a Toastmaster brand. If I choose the whole wheat program it slowly preheats for 20 minutes before any kneading begins.
My bread maker is the
Have you tried waiting about 10 or 15 minutes after you push start? Some bread machines are very sophisticated and gently warm-up your ingredients for 5 or 10 minutes before they begin kneading.
