Toshiba 62hm95 makes whirring noise and color is distorted
Your color wheel is going out and needs to be replaced. Toshiba does not list a part# for the color wheel. They expect you to have the whole light engine rebuilt. You should be able to find one on ebay. Or other sites like that. Good luck to you.

- Reset component settings.
Usually, the problems you encounter with a projection TV may be resolved
through the resetting to its factory settings. If you experience
inaccuracies in the color, reset the television's PerfectTint/PerfectColor
capabilities. Simply press the Menu tab and then highlight "Perfect Color"
using your right key arrow. After this, press "Enter" and then "Reset" in
order to reset to factory settings. If you have audio / video problems
(VCR or DVD player), simply press "Menu" and highlight the "Reset"
option.
Reset television controls. In case you cannot fix your TV via its
component settings, there are other ways of resetting. Just select "Menu", key
in "1, 2, 3", and then press "Enter." In doing this, the TV's
manufacturer's specifications will all be restored. If your TV's power system
does not function, you should perform a complete system reset. You can do this
by clicking on Reset System button located at the TV's control panel. Your
television will be turned off and then a green light (LED) will quickly flash
for approximately one minute. Once the light has stopped flashing, your TV
should immediately turn on.
My tv only show black and white lines, it shows no picture but the lines
The main digital processor board should be troubleshooted. The work is a skilled one, that a user cannot locate the exact fault point with these boards. Contact any experienced service technician. If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to
repair. Whether you suffer fatal electrical shock!
Instead, contact the nearest service center.
Chip going bad
If they are white dots that is the OPTICAL LIGHT ENGINE, check all inputs to see if issue the same and you can POST a photo here which might help.
I replaced the lamp on my toshiba 42HM66
You will need to check if the output supply going to the lamp is good. If not the ballast will need replacement. That model is actually famous for haveing ballast issues. You can get the replacement ballast from
www.tvcircuitboards.com they also assist with installation assistance if you require it.
I have a Toshiba 62
The power board is a good guess as when power was restored a surge likely hit it---if you are able to get at the board look for signs of damage including puffed up filter caps that may have been damaged by the surge.Photo attached is extreme example of bad caps--the silver tops must be perfectly flat and no signs of brown material oozing out at top or bottom--beauty of this is if you see this it is a fairly easy repair and the parts are not expensive.Any caps found that are puffed up even a little are BAD.
Why does it make a buzzing sound
The buzzing sound could be a color wheel (high pitched or fan like) or the lamp and or Ballast.Try to describe it more and do you hear it with the sound muted or off?

Hi,
Faulty lamp,color wheel and some parts have a LED (red,green) error code at the front panel. May I know which led light lit solid/flashing at the front panel to confirm where the fault came from?
