This is an uncommon issue and could be one of several things

• The formatter could be sending garbage print data to the ECU (rare)
• The ECU is bad, this controls the laser
• The high voltage power supply could be bad
• The the primary charge roller is bad.

Typical laser jet process.

1. Primary charge roller is charged to -600V and transfers this to the photosensitive drum in the toner cartridge.
2. Th laser removes the negative charge and places a +600V charge where the image/text will go
3. Toner is attracted to the positive charged areas on the photosensitive drum (toner is negatively charged)
4. Transfer roller has a + charge sits under the paper, this roller attracts the toner from the photo roller to the paper
5. The fuser melts the toner onto the paper

So if the laser is going crazy and removes all the negative charge or no negativ charge is being applied to the photosensitve drum then toner will stick everywhere to it and you get a black page.How this helps.

This indicates that the drum unit is full.You need to remove the developer unit from the front of the machine and the drum unit can then be removed,You will need to replace the drum unit.Non genuine toner can result in the drum unit filling up faster than normal.

Fuser unit has failed.

Plug a normal phone into the Tel port on the wall as it may be a line fault.Check that you have the telephone line cable plugged into the correct port on the m/c (needs to be in the line port not tel port.I have had an instance where we had to unplug the machine from the power point for 20 minutes to reset the fax module.

It sounds as if you may have something holding on one of the paper detect sensors.Try manualy pushing (carefully) a thick piece of paper through the feed path to clear any blockages.

The waste toner fills up the waste toner box which is incorporated in the drum unit.these are not designed to be emptied.You will have to replace the drum unit.

C6400 indicates that the engine board is not recieving the correct signal.

I would suggest that you turn off the machine and ensure that the cable that runs from the document feeder at the top rear of the machine into the connector on the rear of the machine (if fitted) is securly tightened.

You can also try turning the machine off at the wall for 10 minutes.

If this fails you will need to call out a technician.

This is a 'Waste toner full' problem.
Look in your manual to find and empty it.
