I need software and drivers
If you were to log on to the
manufacturer's
web site, usually one is able to download if
available, by model number,
All available Driver
downloads
as required.
This is the best way of ensuring up to
date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!
There
are no XP drivers to be found with Microsoft as XP is no longer
supported.
Some
manufacturers may have a limited number of Drivers still listed.
I hope this helps.

Has the notebook been upgraded/rebuilt/repaired at all since new? Commonly the cause for it not picking up the button press is if its been rebuilt with fresh operating system and the drivers to pick up the Fn keypresses was not installed therefore its not monitoring the keypresses.
Can you try other Fn combinations and see if any others work please.
If nothign else works then it is what I think it is, and we'll need to go through and re enable this either by reinstalling the service or finding where its disabled and enable it. Please try the above first,
How do I re-install the operating system for eee
Would have liked to have a little bit more information from you ;)

- What operating system do you want installed?
If you are willing to try a non MS windows operating system, here is a solution; go to this page:
http://www.ubuntu.com/netbook/get-ubuntu/downloadClick on the Start Download button. While downloading, have a look at option 2 "Create a USB drive". Click the appropriate radio button (Win, Mac, Ubuntu), then click the "Show me" button for instructions.
Using this option, you do not need a disc drive, just a USB stick. This software is free so you do not need to purchase a new Windows (or pirate a windows copy).
I use this operating system myself on all my computers and I am very happy with it.
Hope this helps ;)
My ASUS EEEPC900 came up
from the sound of it, it is not the hard drive that is the problem it is most likely the sytem board of the notebook, just to make sure you should try booting with a UBUNTU 10.10 live CD if all is well then you have a case of REINSTALLING WINDOWS welcom to the microsoft world...
Good luck!
Im getting a disk read
It's a hardware failure - the hard disk has died. You will have to replace it then reinstall using an external cd unit and an XP install disk - ideally the recovery disk should be used.
Hi i had problems with the touchpad keys and keys
the keyboards break real easy they are easy to change there is 2 or 3 tiny clips along the top of the keyboard you have to push them back with a small screwdriver and lift the keyboard away and disconnect ribbon from the main unit, the touch pad is built into the case and connected to the main board with a tiny ribbon connector, check the ribbon is connected correctly, be carefull its easy to break off if the case is opened, if it looks connected ok but still not working check the driver is correct, the drivers are available from the asus website
I have an asus eee
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart then
once you have your computer running try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive this should schedule when you restart then defragment your hard drive
hope this helps
NTLDR is missing
NTLDR is missing" means that the Windows boot loader (NT Loader, NTLDR) cannot be found. This often occurs when the computer tries to boot from a drive other than the one Windows is installed on, due to a change in the drive configuration or because you left a bootable disk in a removable drive. But it may also be because the NTLDR file has been corrupted or deleted
Check that there are no CDs or DVDs in the CD/DVD drives.
Check that no removable drives are plugged in to the USB ports.
Check the boot order in the BIOS Setup to ensure that the computer boots from the drive containing Windows before any other bootable devices
However, if your computer is using Windows XP and you have a Windows XP installation CD you may be able to boot from this and use the Recovery Console to fix NTLDR manually .

Hey i have a problem with my asus ee 900 hd
i had the same problem with my acer laptop. here what i did. 1st i removed the battery and powered it on without the battery. (work fine) 2nd i got a replacement battery. (worked fine) 3rd i put the old battery in to make sure that was the problem. (it did the same thing) 4th this lead me to believe that the battery was bad. (i was wrong) 2 weeks later it started doing the same thing. 5th i took the old battery apart and removed the cells out of it and just put the case back on. (it been working for 3 years without that problem) only problem no battery power just the cord. my educated guess is something is going on with the internal battery charger. hope this help a little. Thank you.
