Have you tried running a memory test from your startup menu? it sounds like a internal memory problem, there is nothing wrong with the game.

if it says "initialising failed" (or something like that) start the game in safe video mode:

• press start
• go to all programs
• microsoft games
• age of mythology
• diagnostics
• AoM-safe video

and it should work.

Well, you have likely pirated the game and/or used a used CD-key. If you did pirate the game (torrents, sharing, etc.) then you cannot play online until you buy the game.

If you do legally have the game, then put the disc into your computer and reinstall it, using the CD-key that came with it. You will be able to play online then.

If you still cannot play online, you have likely let someone else use your CD-key also, in which case you need to contact support (if there's any available) or just buy a new copy.

try a different cd first to see if your cd drive is even working.. if it is then check your cd for scratches .. sometimes in older cd drives the slightest scratches make the cd unreadable.. i would suggest if the cd drive is unable to read most cd's you should replace it .. try staples or electronics stores like it.. there cheap..easy fix read up on safe instalation of cd drives

Apparently if you have an xplosiv/ubisoft version of the game the CD key will have already been used, you'll have to try and contact microsoft or whoever you bought it off and get another CD Key issued
