Please download the instruction sheet from the following link which explains how to load the brads. Make sure you have the correct size of brads mentioned at the bottom of the instruction sheet. TRE500 Sharpshooter Stapler Instruction Manual

Hi Nancy,

Do you mean it rapid fires, or do you mean fires the staples to deep?
If it fires too deep, the adjustment for that is on the back of the gun. The + and - give more/less depth. Adjust it towards the - direction to get the brad/staple to no penetrate as far.

One of the screws requires a security torx

Staples newly purchased will always be attached when purchased and that answers your question...wherever the device u are loading has a horizontal channel, there will be a loading window at the end. Take it apart by realeasing the cap or spring at the bottom and sliding the train of staples into the channel inside. Replace cap or spring lever to original position and secure. Stapler is now loaded.
