Amazon Kindle Paperwhite - Page 6 Questions & Answers
I am trying to set-up my new Kindle and everything is in Spanish. I need it in English. Help!
From the Home Menu swipe down to get the pull down menu. Select the gear on the right hand side which is Settings. Select the Language option which may or may not read Idioma in Spanish. If the menus are in the same order as in English it should be immediately after the Keyboard option which may read Teclado. The first option under Idioma sets the language for the table. Select the first option. If those options are in English select English, if they are in Spanish it should say Ingles.
Move books from kindle to cloud
From the carousel you can touch and hold the picture of the book until the menu appears. In the top right you can see +Add or trash can remove. When you select trash can remove you will get the option From Carousel or From Cloud. If you select From Carousel you will no longer see it in your Carousel menu, but it will stay in the cloud. If you select From Cloud it removes it from your account.

My Kindle went on strike yesterday I cannot sweep it to turn it on. I charged it twice
Hi; you need to restart the Kindle in the hope that the capacitive touch mechanism which controls the screen swipe is not broken. First, fully charge the device by connecting it to a wall adapter and letting it charge until the power light turns green. This could take a couple of hours if the battery has fully discharged.
Then disconnect the USB cable and set it aside. Press the power button located on the edge of the Kindle and hold it down continuously for at least 30 seconds. Release the button and then press it again just momentarily as if to wake the unit up from screensaver mode. This should cause the device to boot the operating system, a process which takes a minute or two. After the reboot has finished you should be sitting at the home screen with your navigation tools and books on display. Attempt to operate the Kindle normally. If it works you are now all set. If it doesn't work, then you have a problem which is probably not user serviceable. This could be a cracked screen which is not visible, or it could be a motherboard electronic problem. Those defects can be remedied, but that requires disassembly of the Kindle which is beyond the scope of this comment.
My paperwhite kindle does not come on
Try a reboot. Unplug it from any power source, press and hold the power button for a full 30 seconds. Set it down, and leave it alone for 5 minutes. If that hard reboot does not help, Use the Help link at the top of the page to contact Amazon Kindle CS and talk with them about it - use the live chat or the call back feature.
My battery wont take a charge... tried 2 differ charges
Hi, your unit may be old as in used quite a lot think about a laptop pc you can replace the battery unit in this . There is not any instructions how to replace the battery. If you have a nearby electrical repair shop they will be able to give you the answer.
My Paperwhite is the original. I read about 1 hour per day. It holds the charge good.
First, if you have not done it in a while, restart your device. Press and hold the power button for several seconds until you get the option to Restart. Often just restarting any device will resolve many issues.
If you have a lot of books, etc., on the device, go through and remove what you do not need. For good measure, Restart again after deleting a bunch of stuff.
Finally, you could try a Reset. This deletes everything so you have a clean slate. On a Kindle this is not as drastic as it sounds. Although you do not have to, I would De-register the device before doing a reset. You will probably have to re-register anyway. De-registering may avoid some confusion later. Also, if you have documents or material other than books, make sure you can access it again somewhere or back it up before the reset. REMEMBER, DOING A RESET WIPES OUT ALL CONTENT. The device will be just as you received it initiall. To reset:
From Home, tap the Menu icon, and then tap Settings.
Tap the Menu icon again, and then tap Reset Device. Your Kindle will restart.
Hope some of this helps.
