Amazon Kindle Paperwhite - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I am trying to register my kindle but my password is not being accepted
If it is the Amazon.com account password then go online and change your password. If the device password then try the following:
Forgot my password
Did you forget the password used to unlock your Kindle? If so, you'll need to reset the device to gain access. By resetting, your Kindle will be restored to factory defaults, which means your registration information and content will be removed, and all settings will return to the defaults.
To reset a Kindle Fire 1st Generation:
1. From the lock screen, slide the Unlock Bar from right to left
2. Use the keypad to enter characters into the password/PIN field four times
3. You'll be prompted to reset your Kindle Fire. Tap "Ok reset"
To reset all other Kindle Fire models:
1. From the lock screen, slide the Unlock Bar from right to left
2. Use the keypad to enter characters into the password/PIN field five times.
3. When prompted to reset your Kindle Fire, tap "Reset"
To reset a Kindle 2nd Generation, Kindle Keyboard, or Kindle DX:
1. Slide and release the power switch to turn on the device or exit sleep mode
2. Enter "resetmykindle" in the password field and press the enter key on the key pad
3. Wait several minutes while your Kindle restarts
To reset a Kindle (5-way controller):
1. Press and release the power button to turn on the device or exit sleep mode
2. Select the keyboard key once on the password screen and enter "resetmykindle" in the password field, then select "Enter"
To reset a Kindle Touch or Kindle Paperwhite:
1. Press and release the power button to turn on the device or exit sleep mode
2. Tap the password field to bring up the onscreen keyboard
3. Enter "111222777" and select "OK"
If you don't remember your Parental Controls password, you can deregister your device instead of resetting, as long as you're connected to a wireless network. You'll need to redownload your content, but items that were transferred via USB will be kept. Here's what to do:
1. Visit the Manage Your Content and Devices (www.amazon.com/manageyourkindle) page on your computer
2. Select the "Manage Your Devices" link
3. Select "Deregister" to deregister your device from your account
Sync your Kindle, then register again.
If you need help with your Wi-Fi password, please contact your Internet Service Provider or router manufacturer.
Unable to access kindle prime
You really need to talk to Kindle support. Log on to Amazon. Your Account, Click and go to Manage, click. On left of screen you'll see Kindle Support, Click on Help Home. This should show your devices and a quick fix list. If your device is NOT there you may need to see about getting it registered. Under Quick fixes click on contact and follow the directions there. I usually send an email and request a call back. They are pretty fast so don't be driving while you wait.
How do I receive my kindle books when my email address is different?
Hi,
I assume you mean kindle books you order online (not from the kindle itself?)
They are delivered to your Kindle based on what you have registered on line, not to your email. Therefore changing your email address should not matter (at least directly).
When you say 'moved' - do you mean moved house physically (which does not matter at all) or moved to using a new kindle? Assuming you mean a new kindle, you need to
A) make sure the kindle is registered to your Amazon account: go to home screen, touch top of screen to bring up menu and then press the 'three lines button', select settings. There should be option to register (you will need email address and password - so you need to make sure your online Amazon account has correct email address registered! This is where email change might be causing problems, but can be updated online)
B) when you order books online you need to select the correct kindle to deliver to in the drop down box next to the order button (it might be called something like "Paul's Second kindle")
You can access all books you have ever bought (for this kindle or any other) on Kindle paper white by selecting 'cloud' when on the list of books at home screen.
Hope that helps, if not please reply and explain in more detail what you are doing and what happens / does not happen
I have a Kindle Paperwhite and a Kindle Fire. I'm trying to get both devices combined in the same account.
If you got to the Amazon Kindle website (using a laptop or desktop is better because of the typing involved) and log in and re-register both devices to the same email and password they will automatically show up as two devices on your one Kindle account and you should be able to use them to share the books on your cloud. The way I understand it is if you have two different user ID's and passwords, you will have two different clouds.
My Kindle does not charge?
Try with another charger. If this not resolve the problem you have broken charging connector, charging line or mother board problem.
