When use remote starter to start car, factory

It sounds as if your vehicle's factory alarm is not disarming before the remote start sequence. You will have to disarm the factory alarm before start. On most vehicles there is a disarm wire, usually in the door that operates with the key cylinder. To test, probe the wire at the key cylinder while unlocking the door with the key. Some vehicles have the disarm wire in the driver's kick panel, but they operate the same way (with the key cylinder). Other vehicles can be disarmed with pulsing the key sense wire. Some vehicles do not have a factory alarm disarm wire,i.e. some Subaru and GM cars and trucks. They can only be disarmed through data modules. More information on the year/make/model of your vehicle will be needed to accurately solve your problem.

If you have to press the vehicle's door lock AND the remote starter button...something is definitely wrong with the installation. If the prestige is a one button unit, try pressing the button twice within two seconds to start vehicle (press...thousand one, release, press...thousand two, release) this is the default setting.

2002 grand am remote starter

The most likely cause is one or more of the safety features are engaged during the attempt to remote start. The lights should flash a sequence that corresponds to the reason for failure to start. Your owners manual will describe what the sequence means. Based from experience, I suspect that the hood pinswitch has malfunctioned or damaged so the system thinks the hood is opened thus preventing starting.

Car starts with the remote start, but when i try

What kind of car? Sounds like a starter kill or anti-grind from the remote start. Try hitting the unlock button on the remote start remote( if it has one), even if the doorlocks weren't hooked up. There might be a parking light flash or two to confirm, then try starting with the key, if nothing then message back with car info and brand of remote start.

Remote start only starts with key in the ignition

It sounds like the immobilizer bypass module has either lost its programming due to the dead battery or a voltage spike from jump starting/recharging the battery or it has malfunctioned. Without knowing which module is installed, it is not possible to determine if it can be reprogrammed. The immobilizer bypass module substitutes the transponder that is in your key and allows the vehicle to start. When it is malfunctioning, it may not be providing a signal or providing the wrong signal the vehicle ECU is expecting. The reason you can remote start the car with the key in the ignition is because the transponder is being read fromthe key and the ECU is allowing the vehicle to start.
