How to change ring and volume of ring
There should be a slider lever on either the left or right side edge (I don't remember off the top which one it is) that adjusts the volume of the ringer. The cadence is changed in the programming of the control unit that the phone is connected to. The programming is different for different systems so the best solution is consult the phone system's documentation.
How do you change the
That depends on the system that the telephone is connected to. You would need to determine which system you have and then consult the owner's manual/programming guide. If your system is being maintained by a vendor, they should be able to make the programming changes for you.
How many lines does the
It depends on how the control unit is programmed. The BIS 10 can't be used as a stand-alone phone (as in....you can't connect it directly to a telephone line).
The BIS 10 will work with the following systems:
AT&T Merlin 206
AT&T Merlin 410
AT&T Merlin 820
AT&T Merlin 820D2
AT&T Merlin 1030
AT&T Merlin 3070
AT&T Merlin II (with the proper modules installed)

We had to replace one
Assuming that the problem is isolated to 1 particular extension, if you have a known working set, try switching that one for the new one and see what happens. If the problem follows the phone, try switching the handsets. If that doesn't work, replace the phone.
If he problem stays with the port on the telephone system, check the wiring and/or plug the telephone directly into the port on the system. If the problem remains, then the extension/port on the system is bad.
How to convert bis 10 desk set to a bis 10 wall
Western Electric produced 2 different stands for "Classic Merlin" telephone sets. You will need to locate the stand designed for wall mounting. Such stands appear on eBay from time to time. Keep in mind that Classic Merlin telephone sets were discontinued many years ago so locating the correct base might be a bit of a challange.
Merlin 410 system went dead , so I unplugged it
You might take an electronic device and plug it into the outlet where the Merlin was plugged in. I doubt it , but it could be a power outlet failure. other then that Merlin 410's can still be purchaced on the refurbished market.
Can't page to central speaker system. gives a busy
If you are getting busy signal, something is shorted out.
Disconnect the wiring from the phone systems page port, and try to page. did the busy go away?
if not the port is bad in the phone system. If it did, the page pac is bad...
I can't turn on the
Depends on what system you have that phone installed o.
If Merlin Legend, on the left side of the phone there is a 3 position switch. Its in the middle position now.
Slide that down
press on of your lines
Press *347
Slide the switch to the middle position.
If that doesnt work, we need to know the system you have these phones on.
BIS-10 Phone - How to change default line
If you have a "squared" system (each line assigned to a different button), just press a different line button. To change the order of the lines, slide the "T/P" switch to "P" and press the line buttons in the order you want to use them (ie: Line 4, Line 3, Line 2, Line 1).
If your lines are "pooled" you just get the next available line from the pool - no choosing which line you get.
Hope this helps.
