My Front Load Affinity washer shuts off after a few minutes

Good Afternoon Lori - Thank you for your post! Based on the symptoms you are describing, you may either have a communication error from the main control board or the timer itself may not be operating correctly. If you noticed a humming noise, then once again it could either be a clogged drainage hose or pump that needs to be cleaned, or it could possibly have another issue with the door lock assembly. I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose the washer to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.

How do I clean the washer pump filter in my GE-WCVH6600HGG?

please go through this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7rJkWE0nN0
Instructions:
  • Examine if there's a problem with the filter. If the machine isn't draining, spinning or agitating, the washer pump filter may be clogged, and you should clean the pump filter. Other giveaways that the filter may need cleaning include the washer performing an incomplete cycle, the timer not advancing or the washer just not running

  • Open the pump access door with a coin. Remove the pump filter by turning it counterclockwise and pulling it out.
  • Clean the filter with your fingernails, removing all loose debris. Wash the filter under running water until it is clean.

  • Replace the filter. Insert it back into its housing, turn it clockwise and close the door.

  • i hope this helps you ,thank you

Washer will not spin...I noticed that in spin cycle the lid no longer locks. We messed with it and then the lid locked and it did spin, but then it stopped working. The washer is only 5 years old if that.

    Hello,

Remove any kinks in the drain hose. Ensure that the washer is not sitting on the hose.

Inspect the household drain. Remove clogs, if possible. Call a plumber if you cannot remove the clogs.

Check the drain and make sure there is an air gap between the hose and drain. An air gap is necessary to prevent the drain hose from siphoning water.

Clean the pump filter. Open the pump access door. Turn the pump filter counter-clockwise and remove it. Remove dirt and debris. Replace the filter and close the pump access door.

Rearrange the clothing in the load. An unbalanced load can prevent the washer from spinning or draining.

Allow the washer to cool down for two hours. If the washer overheats, it will stop the motor and cool down before restarting.

Close the door completely. The washer will not operate if the door is not securely closed.

    I hope the above helps.

    Good luck.

My GE Front load washer (WBVH6240) has an odor that smells like mildew in it. If the is left closed the odor is really bad. Do you know how to fix this or what is comes from?

run a empty cycle with bleach on whites/ sanitize. clean boot (rubber gasket at door) with bleach or other cleaner inside especially at bottom, make sure 3 holes at bottom are clear.
this may take multiple cycles to rid of odor.
For maintenance, you should wipe excess water from boot after last load, and check lower drain holes. Once a month wipe boot with windex or other. and run cleaner cycle (empty) newer machines have a special clean washer cycle. (6240 doesnt).
Also clean your drain pump filter at bottom front behind access panel.
If boot is really bad , replace.
